The golf team opened its spring schedule against Hamilton in Port St. Lucie, Fla., where they suffered a 329-307 loss. Hamilton, which finished third at the fall NESCAC Championship Qualifier, had four golfers under an 80 in the match.
Pete Taylor ’12 led Wesleyan with a nine-over-par 81. Next was Dan DeRienzo ’11 (82), Alex Levin ’12 (83), Eli Wilson ’09 (83), and Charlie Alderman ’11 (87). Hamilton’s Jeff Corbett was the medalist with a three-over-par 75.
The match was only the second all-time meeting between the two NESCAC clubs. The teams also met in March 2008 in Ft. Pierce, Fla., with Hamilton taking a 294-314 decision.
Wesleyan hits the New England links for the first time on April 3 with a match at Rhode Island College.
