Two days in a row I’ve spotted this rodent parked at the very top of Foss Hill during the late afternoon, just across the path from the observatory. I’ve been able to get pretty close without scaring it off, but both times it has run back under the bushes at the base of the observatory. Looks like a groundhog to me, but rodentia experts should feel free to weigh in.

Apologies for the camera-phone photo. The subject was a little bit camera-shy and didn’t give me the time to get any real photography equipment.
