Putin’s Russia Protects Father Frost From Children

Merry Christmas from Russia…

Screen Shot 2013-12-25 at 5.37.48 PMWhen the authorities in Samara, Russia, heard that Father Frost (Santa) was coming to town they decided, in true Putin mode, to ensure that the children would present no danger to …er…. Frost…er, i mean the public…er I mean themselves….. gosh I don’t know…. . But no doubt it must have been terrifying – about 20 kids and one Santa, and perhaps a few police officials on hand to contain the mayhem.

Do kids not even have the right of peaceful assembly? Is this a SOCHI rehearsal? Is it really Christmas?

Here is Spectrum Russia’s report:

“All Russia Father Frost” (Russian version of Santa) came to Samara, Russia on December 24, 2013. Apparently it seems that Putin’s authorities felt that children may pose a danger to the public order just as much as adults who come to protest rallies for political freedoms and human rights. Or, perhaps, they were afraid that those kids would take the Christmas tree down in the spirit of the recent events in Ukraine?

It is clear, however, that in Putin’s Russia even children are kept behind bars and have no Constitutional rights for a peaceful assembly.

Have they prepared enough fences for the Olympic Games spectators in Sochi already?
