Boutique hotel collection Epoque Hotels has announced the addition of Myanmar’s The Hotel @ Tharabar Gate to its portfolio in Asia. Opened in 2002 and renovated last year, the hotel is situated in front of old Bagan’s legendary gate built in 849 AD and is surrounded by more than 4,000 ancient temples and pagodas with easy access to the city’s major sights.

84 luxury guestrooms and suites are designed to reflect the ancient Burmese empire and style, while featuring amenities catering to the modern traveller. Illuminated by Asian torches, the all-day dining restaurant French Garden serves French haute cuisine accompanied by spectacular views, while the semi-outdoor Ananda restaurant caters to guests with different tastes, offering a variety of Asian and Mediterranean creations.

For recreation, guests can experience signature Burmese and Thai therapies at the hotel’s spa, or enjoy respite from the tropical heat in the cool waters of the outdoor swimming pool. Alternatively, the butlers and staff are available to arrange sightseeing tours and activities to explore Bagan and the traditional lifestyle of its people.
