Hello, my name is Amber. I am 24 years old and up until last year, I was very skeptical about ghosts and paranormal entities. But now, my whole view has changed… This is my 100% true ghost story.
I live in North Carolina, but in the hot summer of 2010, I went to visit my cousin in Maryland. It was chillier there, but pretty bearable. My cousin’s name was Lillian, but everyone always called her her Lilly. She was 23, and lived in a beautiful stone Victorian home. It was very spacious and comfortable, and had a nice wood-burning fireplace.
My first night there, Lilly told me that I could pick any room to sleep in, but told me not to sleep in the basement bedroom. I asked her why I couldn’t. She showed me all around the house, and the basement was very nice. It had soft carpeting, a big flat screen TV, and was very cozy. Why wouldn’t she want me there? She was a bit reluctant to say why, but eventually she spilled it. She told me that years ago before she moved in, another family lived there. They had two little daughters. One of the daughters slept in the basement bedroom.
One night while the little girl was sound asleep in bed, she mysteriously died. She wasn’t sick, and there were no signs of murder. The family was filled with grief, but also fear. They left the house a month after their daughter’s tragic death. Lilly had bought the house from them because they were selling it for a very low price. They told Lilly the whole story. Lilly said that she tried sleeping there once, but she kept hearing demon-like voices. They sounded as if from a small girl. After her story, I was a bit nervous to be in the house.
That night, I chose a bedroom next to Lilly’s. About halfway through the night, I decided that I couldn’t sleep. I was too curious about the basement bedroom. I quietly crept downstairs into the bedroom in the basement. It was warm and very cozy. I shut off the lights and sat on the bed, curious about the “voices”. About ten minutes passed when I started to hear tapping on the walls. Tapping, tapping, tapping… Then, I heard a hushed, raspy voice. It sounded like the voice of a young girl. It was saying abstract things that I couldn’t understand. They started getting louder and louder until I couldn’t take it anymore. I ran out of the room.
I left Lilly’s house the next morning before she woke up. I left her a not saying how sorry I was, but I couldn’t bear to be in that house.
Well, that’s my story… I hope you liked it. And remember, it is absolutely 100% true…
