Data Use, Technology, and Educational Leadership

A sneak peek at Supervision

Here is a sneak peak at the cover of latest version of Supervision (out this year). Tom Sergiovanni and Jerry Starratt are the original first authors of this book, putting out various editions over the decades. Sadly, Tom passed away early in January. The entire field of educational administration is indebted to his contributions.

It’s been fun putting my spin on issues around supervising teachers and supporting their growth. That means this edition of the book talks about how to navigate pressures around data use; how to meet demands for equity and individualization of instruction; some novel uses of technology; and  the role that central offices might take in supporting good teaching.

Jerry recently recounted to me how he began writing this book as a young PhD, handwriting notes and getting them typed out on onion paper. It’s a true honor to be a part of this, the ninth edition!
