Hullo to all in Atuldom

Its been three weeks since the gang out happened in Bangalore. I am sure fellow atulites would be waiting for a report on the happenings of that day. But that is not the beginning. It all began with the news that there was going to be a visitor to Bangalore in the week preceding Diwali. That started the chain of mails to coax other Atulites into making a visit. I think this is the right place to mention that this is that period in the year when birds migrate from the colder regions of the world to India which is definitely warmer. One of our gang member joins the birds in this home coming. The first person to jump to say the dates were ideal for the gangout was Sudhirji and YYIIPPEEEE master. Guruji conveyed that he would be unable to make it but Ben Katie was 100% sure she would join us over the net and be our international delegate. There were only 77 mails exchanged to put the whole meet in place. My mind was playing the song “Jahaan Char Yaar Miljaaye”.

A few days before the scheduled meet came the YYIIPPEEEE master missing message from our gang member who had come home with the migratory birds. This lookout notice was seconded by another member who was supposed to join him on his journey from Chennai. A lot of messages were sent and exchanged between the attendees and two days before the meet YYIIPPEEEE master surfaced with the news that he was down with the flu and his Doctor had refused him permission to undertake the travel to Bangalore (climate being the villain here) So that cut the number of attendees by two. Then came the news that Avey-of- Discard had given up trying to reach Bangalore (personal reasons the villain here). The final straw was when Sudhirji had to dropout due to last minute unavoidable circumstances. But he promised to be around waiting for us over the net. Now the song playing in my mind was “Socha Tha Kya; Kya Hogaya; Kya Hogaya”.

But the Gangout went ahead with the available members. We were joined by a few new faces. When I say we, I mean Rajaji Aparna and me had interacted with each other in the last gangout and felt like old friends meeting after a gap. But the new faces were gold mines of information. The one resolution that Rajaji and me arrived at was when we have our next Gangout we shall put these goldmines and add Guruji and Sudhirji for good measure sit back and enjoy the flow of knowledge. We have promised to keep shut on that occasion. I am sure this will be very soon as Guruji has said that he is going to be in this part of the country in the month of January.

For the rest of the report we will have to wait for Rajaji and his inimitable style. But one thing was sure the day passed so quickly with songs being played on the huge movie hall kind of screen and desperately trying to get connected with Sudhirji and his Saturday gang. It was a lot more easier getting online with our international delegate. Another accomplishment of this gangout was getting Shenoyji (one of the new faces in the group, he has been present on Atuldom in the comments section) agree to writing out about his favourite songs and turning contributor. Thank you Shenoyji for keeping your word.

The song which will fit the situation of that day is from Manmohan Desai’s 1981” Naseeb”. It is the perfect party song written by Anand Bakshi and Laxmikant- Pyarelal being the music director. It has the whole star cast of the movie present. Lets enjoy this song by Kishore Kumar, Mohd. Rafi, Shailendra Singh, Asha Bhonsle and Usha Mangeshkar. This was shot inside a revolving restaurant. Mumbai had two new revolving restaurants at that time. I do not know if they still exist. That explains why the set is revolving. Conditions to enjoy the song (1) Mind you we are not supposed to recognize the actors as they are in DISGUISE. 😉 (2) We are not supposed to laugh at their dancing.

Ekdum Rang Jamaa diya us din ko ?
