Today (25 june 2015) is the 91st birth anniversary of Madan Mohan (25 june 1924- 14 july 1975). On this occasion I will discuss some songs composed by him.
Before starting this blog in 2008, I was (I still am) a member of a cricket forum where I would discuss Hindi movie songs. There we would discuss songs on various themes (we called then geetmala). I had once discussed songs of Madan Mohan. There I had boasted to likeminded music lovers (such as Raja) that I had a collection of 300 Madan Mohan songs with me. 🙂 While some people there politely admired my boasting, some spoil sport character may have ridiculed my claim.
after starting this blog, I came across many fellow HFM enthusiasts. One big Madan Mohan fan, called MMfan, who had a big collection of Madan Mohan songs that he also uploaded online, stated that he had heard about 300 odd Madan Mohan compositions.
Now, every music lover, and not just hardcore music lovers like MMfan and I, have access to many more Madan Mohan compositions in this blog. One can now access 458 Madan Mohan compositions in one place ! Yes, 458 Madan Mohan compositions (including this one) have been discussed in this blog, alongwith full lyrics and other useful information about the songs. This is quite an improvement from the past where one had to waste considerable time to locate meaningful information whose accuracy was not certain.
Madan Mohan composed about 630 songs in around 93-94 movies. This blog has 458 of these songs from 87 Madan Mohan movies. So about 170 more songs of Madan Mohan are yet to be covered in the blog. My guess is that it may take us another couple of years to reach that stage at normal pace and lesser time if we make a conscious effort to discuss the remaining songs on a regular basis.
Out of 87 Madan Mohan movies covered in the blog, as many as 40 movies already have all their songs covered in the blog. Half a dozen movies are just one song away from joining the list whereas another half a dozen movies are two songs away from becoming YIPPEED.
Here is a lovely joyous song from “Chaacha Chaudhary”(1953). This is the seventh song (out of nine in the movie) to appear in the blog. This song is sung by Asha Bhonsle and Rafi, with another unidentified voice (singing for Chacha Chaudhary, I guess) performing classical music aalaap.
Rajinder Krishan is the lyricist. Music is composed by Madan Mohan.
Only the audio of this song is available. I request our knowledgeable readers to throw light on the picturisation of this song.
