January 7th is the birthday of Reena Roy the actress from the 70s and 80s. she was the one with an earthy look when she wore Indian clothes and could also carry western outfits without looking out of place. She made a successful pair with Jeetendra and Shatrughan Sinha. She also had a few successes with Sunil Dutt, Dharamendra and Kamalhaasan. She was a decent dancer too—one can’t forget her disco numbers in “Sanam Teri Kasam” and “Rocky”. She has been part of the star cast of Amitabh Bachchan’s “Naseeb” and “Andha Kanoon” but has never been paired opposite him romantically. She was last seen in J.P.Dutta’s “Refugee” as Abhishek’s foster mother.

She debuted in B.R. Ihsaara’s Zaroorat in 1972. Though she struggled for some years after that. In that period came “Jaise Ko Taisa” (1973) with Jeetendra (Sridevi was a child star in the movie) For her birthday today let us have a song from this movie which was a rain soaked dance sung by Lata and Kishore Kumar, to lyrics by Anand Bakshi and music by RDB. So let us all sing Sau saal jiyo tum meri jaan to this diva of the 70s and 80s.

aisa mausam pehle kabhi bhi aaya nahin een
aisa baadal ambar pe sajna chhaaya nahin ee

aisa mausam pehle kabhi bhi aaya nahin een
aisa baadal ambar pe sajna chhaaya nahin een

ye suhaana samaa
prem ki ee khoj mein

hosh se kaam lo
raam ka naam lo

One of my favourites, I thought this song was already posted in the blog.
Thank you Madam ji for posting this one. I liked her very much in Bezuban(1982),Ghulami,Badalte Rishte,Apnaapan,Kaalicharan,Sanam Teri kasam (I can go on and on)and
in Rocky her expressions for mujra type dance song “Geet sunogey huzoor yaa main gazal gaaoon->asha/RDB” is superb.
Madam hint hint 🙂

I also thought that this song was discussed long back.

It is surprising that no body comments on the striking similarity between Reena Roy and Sonakshi Sinha. Kitne loge ko KHAMOSH(WHAMOOSH) kiya pata nahi. Mujhe to kiya nahi na!

Hullo Nitinji
as i was writing the post for the above song i also thought about the same thing. how similar they look etc.i jhave been having that feeling since i saw her in “Dabangg”.
but a few things struck me.
1) about the similarity between similarity i thought that i had read somewhere a long time back (in some gossip column) about how there was similar talk about Reena Roy resembling Asha Parekh.
2) then i thought that this is not a gossip blog for mongering such things in posts. (atleast we seem to have an unwritten code of conduct here)
so i let the matter on the unsaid section.:-))

Me too writing about the same thing(about striking resemblances between two), but both are my favorites, How can I gossip about them ?
and also thought about “the unwritten code of conduct” here . and kept mum about my comments aur zabaan ko lagaam de diyaa 😦

They have remixed it and used in a movie called Dil vil pyar vyaar(2002)(in which many songs of pancham were remixed and picturised again on screen) Just for trivia sake

picturised on Sanjay Suri(a favorite of mine 🙂 ),Dipannitha Sharma
