Nainon se nain milaa ke – song no. 12
—————————————-
I have noticed that some of the regulars on the blog have shortened the name of ‘atulsongaday’ as ‘ASAD’. They might be interested to know that ‘Asad’ in urdu and Arabic means ‘Lion’. Now there is one famous personality named such, we are familiar with i.e. “Asadullah Khan Ghalib”. And ‘Lions’ by nature are hunters and like to roar. Mirza Ghalib was a different story, as even if he roared, it turned into sheer poetry. Where as we at ‘atulsongaday’ are more comfortable ‘cooing’ as a ‘Dove’. At least I prefer to thinks so.
Doves are aggressive birds in our concrete jungles. I should know, I live in a building besieged by Pigeons. They are all over the place. Any slightly shaded place they find, they make an ‘aashiana’ there. They are very easily deterred too. A simple mesh of plastic is enough to keep them out of the balconies. Still residents feel invaded by the mess they create. Such is the intricate working of the human psychology that we feel threatened by birds and insects. But we on the other hand are quite oblivious to the erosion of human values that is taking place and we begin to considere the eroded values as the accepted way of life. Intelligent race that we are, we choose to live in a mess we help create. Why blame the ‘Doves’ ? they are no intellectuals.
Talking of birds, here is a song by the nightingale herself.
The count after 11th song in this series was 12 singers, 12 lyricists and 12 music directors. Song no. 12 is this melodious Lata solo from the film ‘Jhamela’ (1953). The composer is C. Ramchandra and lyrics are written by Rajendra Krishan. Only Rajendra Krishan has featured before in the series. So with this song the score is 12 songs, 13 singers 12 lyricists and 13 music directors.
This song lyrics are contributed by Mr. Nitin Shah ji. Only one song is posted from this film so far.
I am happy to include a Lata song in the series, as she was so far missing. This is a gem of a song with a semi classical tune. This film is directed by Master Bhagwan and had Geeta Bali as heroine. Possibly Master Bhagwan was also the hero of the film. As only audio link of the song is available, it is not known on whom or how the song is picturized, but the song sounds a bit like a mujra.
Song-Kaahe naina ladey is din ke liye (Jhamela)(1953) Singer-Lata, Lyrics-Rajinder Krishan, MD-C Ramchandra
Lyrics(Provided by Nitin Shah)
kaahe naina lade iss din ke liye
kaaahe naina lade iss din ke liye
raama
badley ye kaise din ke liye
raama
badley ye kaise din ke liye
paar karejawa pe teekha teekha teer laagaa
jhoothey ki preet jhoothi
kaisa daga de ke bhaaga
kaahe khoi sudh budh maine
kaahe khoi sudh budh maine
inke liye maine inke liye
raama
badley ye kaise din ke liye
kaahe naina lade iss din ke liye
kaaahe naina ladhe iss din ke liye
raama
badley ye kaise din ke liye
raama
badley ye kaise din ke liye
beetengi ratiyaan meri ab roye roye
beimaan tere khayaalon mein khoye khoye
wo to hanste hain ham royen
wo to hanste hain ham royen
jinke liye royen jinke liye
raama
badley ye kaise din ke liye
kaahe naina lade iss din ke liye
raama
badley ye kaise din ke liye

Dear Nitin Shah and Atul, I have no comments on doves…I wish to express my heart-felt pleasure when I listened to this song from Jhamela..I always maintain after listening to all music composers, that Annasaheb Chitalkar was the master of all…what a gem this song is…Thank u Nitin ji and Atulji…

It is interesting to note about doves. I have encountered them in all the buldings/flats I lived in New Delhi and Mumbai, and even here in Bangalore. They are mainly grain eaters. They cannot / do not build nests, just spread twigs to lay eggs on, even in a corner of the open balconies.. Both male and female bird sit hatching. But they become easy prey to cats and it is heart-rending to witness that , especially for a vegetarian. The mother cat trains the kitten to catch the young bird which cannot yet fly, but can only hop! Well, such is Nature about which people romanticise so much! The cat too is God’s creation. I wonder how the thousands of doves / pigeons survive in Kabutar Khana in Dadar!
