“Naatak” (1947) was produced by AR Kardar and directed by S U Sunny under the banner of Kardar Productions. The movie had Suraiyaa, Amar, Sofia, Kanwar, Sham Kumar, Pratima Devi, Nazir Bedi, Amir Ali, Suleiman, Murtaza, Nazir Ahmed, Nawab etc. in it.
The movie as well as its songs are more or less forgotten. Here is one of the more obscure songs from this movie. It is sung by Zohrabai Ambalewaale. Shakeel Badayuni is the lyricist. Music is composed by Naushad.
Only the audio of this song is available. I request our knowledgeable readers to throw light on the picturisation of this song.

Zohrabai Ambalewaali, poular singer of yesteryears, had very clear, sharp and resounding voice as is evident from the above audio. We used to hear her few famous songs ‘ ankhiya milake jia bharma ke’, aahen na bhare..’ ‘rimjhim barse badarwa’ etc over radio during 60s, 70s. Through your blog you have revived old days, memorise of which nostalgias are made of. Thanks.
