“Howrah Bridge” (1958) was produced and directed by Shakti Samanta. This movie had Ashok Kumar, Madhubala, K N Singh, Sunder, Om Prakash, Sailen Bose, Krishnakant, Helen, Dhumal, Kammo, Madan Puri, Bhagwan Sinha, Kundan etc in it.
As many as seven songs from this movie have been discussed in the past. Here is the eighth and final song from the movie. This song is sung by Rafi and Asha Bhonsle. The song is picturised on Mehmood and Minu Mumtaz as a bhangra song. It is a rare occasion of two siblings figuring in a duet song in a Hindi movie. I read somewhere that some people took a dim view of the fact that Mehmood and Minu Mumtaz figured as a romantic pair in thir song and the movie. And their objection meant that they were no longer cast together that way in subsequent movies.
Qamar Jalalbadi is the lyricist. Music is composed by O P Nayyar.

A very late but like they say.. “Der Se Aaye.. Par Durust Aaye” :). YIPPEEEE!! the wonderful movie Howrah Bridge 1958 joins the ranks of movies where all songs from the movie have been covered on the blog. By the time I write this.. we have 775 YIPPEEEED movies on the blog. Looking forward to the 1000 Yippeeee!! movies milestone :).
