Mori baali re umariya

Posted on: March 21, 2013

“Chhoti Chhoti Baaten”(1965) was a Rajwansh Production movie. It was directed by Motilal. The movie had Motilal, Nadira, Moti Sagar, Majnu, Kumar, Krishan Dhawan, Leela Misra, Sangeeta, Mridula, Mubarak etc in it.

Three songs from this movie have been discussed in the past. Here is the fourth song from this movie.

This obscure song is sung by Lata. Shailendra is the lyricist. Music is composed by Anil Biwsas.

Only the audio of this song is available and so it is difficult to say how and on whom this song is picturised. I request our knowledgeable readers to throw light on the picturisation of this song.

With this song, we now have yet another music enthusiast joining us as a lyrics contributor to this blog. Mr Bharat Upadhyay, who is already a regular visitor and commentor to this blog has sent me the lyrics of this song. While most of us grew up listening to Hindi movie music during 1960s and 1970s, he grew up listening to the music of K L Saigal and Pankaj Mullick in 1930s and that makes him the seniormost music lover among us all. With that, now we have contributors of all imaginable age groups in the blog. 🙂

Song-Mori baali re umariya (Chhoti Chhoti Baaten)(1965) Singer-Lata, Lyrics-Shailendra, MD-Anil Biswas
Chorus

Lyrics(Provided by Bharat)

lakdi jal koyla bhayi
lakdi jal koyla bhayi
koyla jal bhayo raakh
main paapan aisi jali ee ee ee
na koyla bhayi na raakh

mori baali re umariya
ab kaise beete raam
mori baali re umariya
ab kaise beete raam
mori baali re umariya

ro ro ke boli radha
ro ro ke boli radha
mohe tajke gayo shyam
mori baali re umariya

jo chhodke hi jaana thhaa
toone kaahe ko preet lagaai
mere meet tera kya bigda
meri ho gayi jagat hansaai
meri ho gayi jagat hansaai
ab to saari re nagariya
kare mujhko badnaam
ab to saari re nagariya
kare mujhko badnaam
mori baali re umariya
ab kaise beete raam
mori baali re umariya

jeete ji o bedardi
main sej agan ki soyi
kya holi aur deewali
main har tyohaar mein royi
main har tyohaar mein royi
mori sooni re atariya
pe har din kohraam
mori sooni re atariya
pe har din kohraam
mori baali re umariya
ab kaise beete raam
kaise beete raam
mori baali re umariya

tum aise des sidhaare
jahaan pahunch sake na paati
toone achha saath nibhaaya
o mere jeevan saathi
o mere jeevan saathi
kiski laagi re najariya
mose bidhna bhayi baam kiski laagi re najariya
mose bidhana bhayi baam
mori baali re umariya
ab kaise beete raam
mori baali re umariya
ab kaise beete raam
mori baali re umariya

Welcome Bharatbhai to our stronghold!!!
He could well be the oldest contributor (19th March,1933) 80 years completed few days ago when I met him on his birthday at his JB Nagar, Andheri flat.
The greatest USP of Bharatbhai is that he is a frequent uploader of old songs on the ubiquitous omnipresent U-TUBE. The song in question has been uploaded by him:

He has huge collection of old songs(about 1 Tb) and knew personally many film personalities like Jaikishan(from same village) Mukesh, Avinash Vyas, Ravi etc

Nice tune. The song has reminded me with a Rafi Title song “Bedard Zamana kya jaane”; which has the same opening lines.
