Hamko chhedta hai dil

Posted on: November 30, 2012

“Aas”(1953) was a Goel Cine Corporation movie. It was produced and directed by Devendra Goel. The movie had Shekhar, Kamini Kaushal, Chanda Bai, Om Prakash, Gulab, Master Ramesh Kapoor, S. K. Prem, Krishan Mukut, Laxmi Bai, Pratibha Rele, Vishnu Mehrotra, Baby Ya Ya etc in it.

Here is what Mr Arunkumar Deshmukh, our inhouse encyclopeadia, has to say about this movie:

AAS-1953, was a Goel cine production film, produced and directed by Devendra Goel who wrote the screenplay also.

it was a typical tear jerker of the extreme kind, but surprisingly with excellent songs by Shankar Jaikishan, who were in their ascending zone then.

Ashok(Shekhar),a wealthy person has a motherless child Kishore. He gets Asha(Kamini Kaushal) as his governess. In due course they fall in love and get married. Asha loves Kishore very much. After few months,Asha is pregnant and duly she begets a son. Inspite of having her own son, Asha loves Kishore more.

Ashok’s Chachi(Laxmi) and her attendant Chanda(Chandabai) hate Asha and start troubling her. They also put many allegations on her like theft, adultery etc. Meanwhile Kishoe(master Ramesh) disappears and Chachi alleges that Asha must have killed him. Asha is thrown out of the house.

Asha is very sad. Her son is sick. Mmasterjee(Omprakash) who is Kishore’s teacher and Ashok trace kidnapped Kishore, rescue him and bring him back, but he falls seriously ill chanting only Asha’s name. Doctors warn that if Asha is not brought back, Kishore may die. Masterjee and Ashok search for Asha. Her son is on death bed, but hearing about Kishore, she rushes to his bedside. In a few days, Kishore gets well, but Asha’s son dies.

Ashok learns all about the black deeds of Chachi and Chanda, throws them out of the house and continues happily with Asha and Kishore.

Such a senseless story ! It did not attract even the expected womenfolk to the theatrs and despite good music the film was a resounding flop.

As many as five songs from this movie have been discussed in the past. Here is the sixth song from the movie.

This song is sung by Lata. Hasrat Jaipuri is the lyricist. Music is composed by Shankar Jaikishan.

Only the audio of this song is available. Based on the cast as well as the storyline, it would seem that the song is picturised on Kamini Kaushal.

Lyrics of this song were sent to me by Atif M.

Song-Hamko chhedta hai dil(Aas)(1953) Singer-Lata, Lyrics-Hasrat Jaipuri, MD-Shankar Jaikishan

Lyrics(Provided by Atif M)

hum ko chhedta hai dil
hum ko chhedta hai dil
kaun jaane kya hua
hum ko chhedta hai dil
kaun jaane kya hua
tum ne baat baat mein
kaisa jaadu kar diya
tum ne baat baat mein
kaisa jaadu kar diya

aankhon mein rehne lagi
tasweer pyaari pyaari
aankhon mein rehne lagi
tasweer pyaari pyaari
tum ko hi paaya maine
khud pe nazar jo daali
tum ko hi paaya maine
khud pe nazar jo daali
boli jhoom kar ada
koyi man mein aa basa
boli jhoom kar ada
koyi man mein aa basa

tumne jo kehna chaaha
woh maine jaan liya
tumne jo kehna chaaha
woh maine jaan liya
main bhi na kehne paayi
tumne pehchaan liya
main bhi na kehne paayi
tumne pehchaan liya
hum to bol na sake
haal pehle pyaar ka
hum to bol na sake
haal pehle pyaar ka

nainon ne dil se kaha
kehte hain preet ise
nainon ne dil se kaha
kehte hain preet ise
duniya to haar kahe
hum kahen jeet ise
duniya to haar kahe
hum kahen jeet ise
lo ji bhed aap ka
mere dil ne keh diya
lo ji bhed aap ka
mere dil ne keh diya
hum ko chhedta hai dil
kaun jaane kya hua
tum ne baat baat mein
kaisa jaadu kar diya
