on:“Rangoli” (1962) was an R S B Films Production. It was directed by Amar Kumar. the movie had Kishore Kumar, Vyjyantimala, N. Hussain, Jagdev, Sadhana (not the famous one), Jeevan, Ulhas, Sulochana, Khurshid, Durga Khote, Iftekhar, Dhumal etc in it.
The movie had nine songs in it. As many as eight songs from this movie have already been discussed.
The ninth song from the movie is “Ciao Ciao Bambiyana”. This song is as rare as any and finding its link was a Herculean task. The person who had uploaded this link (I have seen him commenting in Memsaab’s blog) was himself not sure about the details of the song, including the name of the movie, name of the singer etc.
Here is this extremely rare song from “Rangoli” (1962). It is sung by Manna Dey and chorus. Hasrat Jaipuri is the lyricist. Music is composed by Shankar Jaikishan.
Only the audio of this song is available and so it is difficult to guess how this song was picturised. I request our knowledgeable readers to throw more light on the picturisation of this song.
PS-The video of this song is also available. I am thankful to Mr Arunkumar Deshmukh, our inhouse encyclopaedia, to point out the video link to me. From the video link, it is seen that the song is lip synced by Dhumal. It must be one of the very few occasions where Dhumal gets to lip sync a full song. Who is the actor who gets addressed in this sing. I request our knowledgeable readers to help identify him.
PS-He is Jagdev. I thank Sudhir jee for helping identify her. In fact, I noticed that it is Sudhir Jee who had uploaded this rare video. He also gives us the background behind this song. Her is what happens in the movie
Jagdev’s father, Nazir Hussain, is in the hospital with serious injuries after a mishap that occurs at the inauguration party for his new house. The name of the house is “Hindustan”. The construction job for this house was contracted to Dhoomal. Dhoomal in turn was purchasing cement from Kishore Kumar, who has a cement agency. The builder passes on the blame to Kishore Kumar, who gets jailed for this offense. Jagdev, who used to lead free wheeling life before this, is now forced to take a job to support the family. He comes to work for Dhoomal.
The side plot in the story is the romance between Jagdev and Sadhna (not the famous one), who is the daughter of Dhoomal. Dhoomal knows that Jagdev is romantically linked, but is not aware that the lady concerned is his own daughter.
In this situation, Jagdev is sad on account of his family affairs. Dhoomal enters, takes a look at Jagdev, and erroneously presumes that he is sad because of his love affair. For that reason, he breaks into this song, telling him not to lose heart on account of the ups and downs in romantic life. Mistakenly, he depresses Jagdev even further, which is apparent in the manner that Jagdev leaves the scene in a huff, at the end of the song.
With this song, Rangoli (1962) becomes the 130th movie whose songs are fully covered in this blog.

Song-Ciao ciao bambiyaana ishq hai marz puraana (Rangoli) (1962) Singer-Manna Dey, Lyrics-Hasrat Jaipuri, MD-Shankar Jaikishan
Manna Dey + Chorus
Lyrics
ciao ciao bambiyaana
ishq hai marz puraana
dil ki dafli pe sab hi
gaate hain yehi taraana
ciao ciao bambiyaana
ishq hai marz puraana
dil ki dafli pe sab hi
gaate hain yehi taraana
ciao ciao bambiyaana
hamne jahaan bhi dekha
mile hain dilon ke rogi
apna hi raag alaapen
shaayad muhabbat hogi
tere mere dil ka juda hai afsaaana
haan haan haan haan
ho ho ho ho
ciao ciao bambiyaana
ishq hai marz puraana
dil ki dafli pe sab hi
gaate hain yehi taraana
ciao ciao bambiyaana
ishq hai marz puraana
dil ki dafli pe sab hi
gaate hain yehi taraana
ciao ciao bambiyana
duniya mein jab tak rehna
gham ko na aane dena
ban jaana mast kalandar
jeena to hans ke jeena
badi badi ankhiyon mein aansoo nahin laana
haan haan haan haan
ho ho ho ho
ciao ciao bambiyaana
ishq hai marz puraana
dil ki dafli pe sab hi
gaate hain yehi taraana
ciao ciao bambiyaana
ishq hai marz puraana
dil ki dafli pe sab hi
gaate hain yehi taraana
ciao ciao bambiyaana

Atul ji,
Two corrections to lyrics.
The line in the mukhdaa
“dil ki dafli se sab hi”
should read
“dil ki dafli pe sab hi”.
Also,the line
“apna hi ?? bhala ??”
should read
“apna hi raag alaapen”.
The young man to whom this song is addressed, is Jagdev. In the beginning of this clip, one sees a brief conversation between Jagdev and Sadhna (not the famous one), who plays the role of his love interest in this film. These two have also appeared on this blog, for another duet from this same film, “Hum Tum, Ye Khoyi Khoyi Raahen” @ https://atulsongaday.wordpress.com/2011/04/07/ham-tum-ye-khoyee-khoyee-raahein/.

The initial line of The “Rangoli” song is clearly taken from that 1959 song.
