Kahaaniyaan sunaati hai pawan aati jaati

Posted on: February 22, 2012

“Rajput” (1982) was produced by Musheer-Riaz and it was directed by Vijay Anand. The movie had Rajesh Khanna, Hema Malini and Dharmendra, all of them towards the fag end of their careers, in lead roles.

Though disco era had taken a firm hold in Hind movies, but luckily the music of some movies still held their own. “Rajput” (1982) was one such movies.

Two songs from this movie have been discussed in the past.

Here is another song from “Rajput” (1982). This song is sung by Rafi and it is lip synced by Dharmendra. I have not seen the movie, but I can guess from the picturisation that the young son of Rjesh Khanna and Hema Malini asks Dharmendra to tell him a tale and Dharmaendra responds by singing this song, which serves as a lullaby for the kid who falls asleep by the end of the song. Cynics may say that the kid finds the tale too boring and so he falls asleep 🙂 .

The picturisation also shows Hema Malini and Rajesh Khanna.

Anand Bakshis is the lyricist. Music is composed by Laxmikant Pyarelal.

Lyrics of this song were sent to me by nahm.

Song-Kahaaniyaan sunaati hai pawan aati jaati (Rajput) (1982) Singer-Rafi, Lyrics-Anand Bakshi, MD-Laxmikant Pyarelal

Lyrics(Provided by nahm)

kahaaniyaan sunaati hai
pawan aati jaati
kahaaniyaan sunaati hai
pawan aati jaati
ek thhaa diyaa
ek baati
ek thhaa diyaa
ek baati
kahaaniyaan sunaati hai
pawan aati jaati

bahut dinon ki hai ye baat
badi suhaani thhi wo raat
diyaa aur baati miley
mil ke jalen ek saath
bahut dinon ki hai ye baat
badi suhaani thhi wo raat
diyaa aur baati miley
mil ke jale ek saath
ye chaand ye sitaare
baney saare baaraati
ek thaa diyaa
ek baati
ek thaa diyaa
ek baati

uthhaayi donon ne qasam
jale bujhenge saath ham
unhen khabar na thhi magar
khushi ke saath bhi hain gham
uthhaayi donon ne qasam
jale bujhenge saath ham
unhen khabar na thhi magar
khushi ke saath bhi hain gham
milan ke saath saath hi
judaai bhi hai aati
ek thaa diyaa
ek baati
kahaaniyaan sunaati hai
pawan aati jaati

ek din gali gali
aisi kuchh hawa chali
aaya ek jhonka
de gaya jo dhokha
jyot ko chura ke
le gaya uthha ke
dil diye ka bujh gaya
ho gayi baati judaa
ho gayi baati judaa
phir bhi usne ye kaha
jyot ko di ye duaa
tujhko koi gham na ho
tujhko koi gham na ho
roshni ye kam na ho
roshni ye kam na ho
tu kisi ke ghar jale
khush rahe phoole phhale
khush rahe phoole phhale
khush rahe phoole phhale

kahaaniyaan sunaati hai
pawan aati jaati
ek thaa diyaa
ek baati
ek thaa diyaa
ek baati

-actually the child is Hema’s & Dharam’s. but coz before they cud get married Hema is married off to RK. hence the child is RK’s. that is the story behind the song that Dharamendra sings for the child. and what a story for a lullaby (lori)

Vijay Anand and Raj Khosla never disappointed the viewers regarding the song picturisation. Both of them had very special knack regarding song picturisation. They are Masters in Song picturisation.Just watch all their songs, you will get to know.
For example, Vijay anand`s BlackMail songs and Raj Khosla`s Mera gaon mera desh.

So many stars in this movie, good music, great director and such a flop????
(Dharam,Hema,Vinodkhanna,
Ranjeeta kaur,Tinamunim,Rehman,RajeshKhanna,Ranjeet,
Indrani mukherjee,Iftekar,Om shivpuri etc..)

This was a movie during my Rajesh Khanna-blackout period. (After Aashiq Hoon Baharon Ka, I refused to see a Rajesh movie – this, and Kudrat, were two notable “big” movies that I skipped as part of my promise to myself. ;-)).

But then, I did see this movie just a few years ago – and quite liked it. And though I’d heard this song many times before (it was quite a hit), it had not resonated with me till I saw it in the film. It was only then that it made a lot of sense – there’s a lot of meaning in this song in the context of the movie.

Personally, my Rajesh Khanna blackout started after 1974 itself.
