Raat abhi baaqi hai

on:“Baghdad” (1952) is a B grade Hindi movie starring Bhagwan, Begam Para, Bharti Devi, Hari Shivdasani, Anwar Hussain etc. While discussing one song from this movie, I had mentioned the fact that obscure movies like this tended to have A grade music.
Here is another song from “Baghdad”(1952) which further validates my point, in case any validation was needed. The song is sung by Geeta Dutt and music is composed by Bulo C Rani. The real star of the song is the lyrics by Raja Mehdi Ali Khan. What fantastic imagination and creativity from the lyricist. And then the singer and the music director have done full justice to the song, as was their wont.
Only the audio of this song is available and so it is difficult to guess how this song is picturised. I request our knowledgeable readers to throw more light on this matter.
Song-Raat abhi baaqi hai (Baghdaad)(1952) Singer-Geeta Dutt, Lyrics-Raja Mehdi Ali Khan, MD-Bulo C Rani
Lyrics
Raat abhi baaqi hai
raat abhi baaqi hai
dil ko qaraar aaya nahin
chhed de haay wo naghmaa
toone jo gaayaa nahin
raat abhi baaqi hai
raat abhi baaqi hai
dil ko qaraar aaya nahin
chhed de haay wo naghmaa
toone jo gaayaa nahin
raat abhi baaqi hai
raat abhi baaqi hai
nas nas mein bas gaye ho
aankhon mein ho samaaye
tum hi kaho ke zaalim
neend ab kisko aaye
chaaron taraf khushi ke saamaan jhoomte hain
raat abhi baaqi hai
raat abhi baaqi hai
dil ko qaraar aaya nahin
chhed de haay wo naghmaa
toone jo gaayaa nahin
raat abhi baaqi hai
raat abhi baaqi hai
shabnami
shabnami aankhon mein dil hai
par hain teri aagosh mein
zindagi ek geet banke
geet banke
aa gayi aagosh mein
jo mujhe kehni hai tumse
wo baat abhi baaqi hai
wo baat abhi baaqi hai
raat abhi baaqi hai
dil ko qaraar aaya nahin
chhed de haay wo naghmaa
toone jo gaayaa nahin
raat abhi baaqi hai
raat abhi baaqi hai

Atul ji,
BAGHDAAD(1952),a Falcon films presentation,it was produced by J.B.Lulla and directed by Nanabhai Bhatt.
The star cast was Ranjan,Bharati Devi,Begum Para,Anwar Hussain,yashodhara Katju,veera,Kamal,Bhagwan,S.Nazir,Kanta,Hari Shivdasani etc.
This was a costume drama, set in the middle east, with lot of Sword fighting,as Ranjan was known for this in those days. The earlier thief of baghdaad now becomes the khalipha and everything is in place till the evil Vazir(Anwar Hussain) is greedy for the throne and brings a Khoobsurat distraction(Begum Para) in the peaceful family life of Ranjan. There are several secret plans, fights and songs and dances and every possible event which can normally satisfy the audience of such films.
Director Nanabhai Bhatt being a Dada in handling such movies, there was no let up till the movie ended with the desired result, namely the defeat of evil and victory of the Right.

Atul ji,
This is such a lovely song; and a wonderful gem to discover. I am hearing it for the first time today. So enchanting, so soft, simply a delight to listen to.
Thanks for this
