Kaun hai jo sapnon mein aaya

on:Rajendra Kumar was known as Dilip Kumar clone, and he was quite a successful one at that too. In fact, Rajendra Kumar was popularly known as “Jubilee” Kumar because most of his movies used to celebrate at least Silver jubilee (25 weeks in a movie hall) and even more.
When one looks back at his movies and at his roles, one wonders whether it was really his acting that was responsible for the success of his movies. When one listens to the music, one finds that most of his movies had superhit music. There are sceptics who feel that it was the quality of music in these films that was mainly responsible for the success of these movies rather than the melodramatic roles that Rajendra Kumar was known for in these movies.
When it comes to this movie “Jhuk Gaya Aasmaan”, I have no doubt that this movie owes its success almost entirely to its music. Moreover, the storyline of this movie was different and was very good. In fact, the story line was copied from a hit Hollywood movie of 1940s and was indigenised well by the makers of this movie.
There were quite a few superb songs in this movie that have gone on to become immortal. Here is one such immortal song. This song is in fact the title song of this movie as well. Rafi, owner of a divine voice, sounds at his most divine in this song. It is a fantastic song which is timeless and immortal.
Incidentally, this song is 200th song of this blog. And everyone will agree that this song is a worthy 200th song for his blog.

Song- Kaun hai jo sapnon me aaya (Jhuk Gaya Aasmaan) ( 1968) Singer-Rafi, Lyrics- Hasrat Jaipuri, MD-Shankar Jaikishan
Lyrics
kaun hai jo sapnon mein aayaa
kaun hai jo dil mein samaayaa
lo jhuk gayaa aasmaan bhi
ishq meraa rang laayaa
kaun hai jo sapnon mein aayaa
kaun hai jo dil mein samaayaa
lo jhuk gayaa aasmaan bhi
ishq meraa rang laayaa
o Priyaa, o Priyaa…
zindagi ke har ik mod pe main
geet gaataa chalaa jaa rahaa hoon
zindagi ke har ik mod pe main
geet gaataa chalaa jaa rahaa hoon
bekhudi kaa ye aalam na poochho
manzilon se badhaa jaa rahaa hoon,
manzilon se badhaa jaa rahaa hoon,
kaun hai jo sapnon mein aayaa
kaun hai jo dil mein samaayaa
lo jhuk gayaa aasmaan bhi
ishq meraa rang laayaa
o Priyaa, o Priyaa …
jism ko maut aati hai lekin
rooh ko maut aati nahin hai
jism ko maut aati hai lekin
rooh ko maut aati nahin hai
ishq raushan hai raushan rahegaa
raushani iski jaati nahin hai,
raushani iski jaati nahin hai
kaun hai jo sapnon mein aayaa
kaun hai jo dil mein samaayaa
lo jhuk gayaa aasmaan bhi
ishq meraa rang laayaa
o Priyaa, o Priyaa …

Yours is a GREAT Blog, Atul. Keep it up.
BTW, can you devise a way for one to look up all posts sent in by a particular reader / responder ?
And on this lovely song, let me add that it’s a true copy of a spanish song which i had heard decades ago – all that i remember bout it is that ” O Piyaa, O Piyaa ” is sung as “Malvino, malvino….”. But need not mention that our Rafisaab version is much much better n heart touching.

Atul, the tag Title Song needs to be added to this song (you do mention it in the write up though).

Kaun Hai Jo Sapnon Mein Aaya is inspired by Elvis Presley’s ‘ Marguerita ‘ from a Hollywood Comedy movie ‘ Fun In Acapulco ‘ ( 1963 ) , directed by Richard Thorpe , starring Elvis Presley and Ursula Andreas .

Wow…200 songs already…fantastic…congrats, Atul.
What a library you have already built.
Do you know that if I type a song in google search (and if it is in your blog, your blog comes up very high – often first or second – for that song) ? Must feel great ! You deserve it – you put in so much effort on this, especially with the intro piece and the lyrics.
Good choice of song for 200…Now onto 300…
