on:“Ferry” (1954) also titled as “Kishti” (1954) is a movie that had Dev Anand and Geeta Bali in lead roles. I have the VCD of this movie lying around with me , but I never bothered to watch the movie. I have just watched a few songs from this movie, and I think that I may yet get persuaded to watch the movie, if only for the songs.
Here is a special song from this movie. It is sung by a singer I knew nothing about. She is Ratna Gupta. And her voice is refreshingly different from the usual female voices of those days.
This song is picturised nicely on Geeta Bali who plays a mother of two kids. She is quite enjoying her life of domestic bliss. She expresses her feelings in this song-“yahi hai mere sapnon ka sansaar” (This is the world of my dreams).
The lyrics are wonderful, and they have been penned by my favourite lyricist Rajinder Krisha. Hemant Kumar is the music director.
Here is this superb forgotten gem, that I unearthed just a few hours ago.

Both,Ratna Gupta and Sabita Bannerjee, were imports to Bollywood from Bengal.
Ratna Gupta, records say, sang only for two movies namely,Ferry(Kashti) and Taksaal in Hindi and then returned to Calcutta.
Comparatively,Sabita Bannerjee sang more songs in Bollywood and then went back to Calcutta where she got married to a Banker at the age of 35 years and settled there permanently.
