Tere bin saawan kaise beetaa

on:“Jab Yaad Kisi Ki Aati Hai” (1967) is a movie starring Dharmendra and Mala Sinha. The movie apparently did not do well at the box office.
The songs of this movie were outstanding, as was the case in general with most movie those days, and it was particularly so with movies having music by Madan Mohan. Yes, this movie was yet another movie where the great music of Madan Mohan got wasted, so to say.
I have discussed one song from this movie in the past. Here is another song. This song is sung by Lata and it is picturised on Mala Sinha. This senbtimental song is written by Raja Mehdi Ali Khan. I listened to this song for ther first time just a few hours ago, and I liked this song from the first listening itself.

Song-Tere bin saawan kaise beetaa (Jab Yaad Kisi Ki Aati Hai) (1967) Singer-Lata, Lyrics-Raja Mehdi Ali Khan, MD-Madan Mohan
Lyrics
tere bin saawan kaise beetaa
tere bin saawan kaise beetaa
tu kyaa jaane baalmaa
tere bin saawan kaise beetaa
tere bin saawan kaise beetaa
tu kyaa jaane baalmaa
tere bin saawan
baag mein jhoole jab lahraaye
geet milan ke sabne gaaye
sakhiyon ne poochha
bol sakhi ri
tere saajan kyun naa aaye
phir sakhiyon ne kyaa kyaa poochhaa
tu kyaa jaane baalmaa
tere bin saawan kaise beetaa
tu kyaa jaane baalmaa
tere bin saawan
phool chaman mein jab muskaaye
pal pal beetaa aas lagaaye
koyaliya ne raag to chhoda
paayaliyaa ne geet na gaaye
pag pag chhalke nain gagariyaa
tu kyaa jaane baalmaa
tere bin saawan kaise beetaa
tu kyaa jaane baalmaa
tere bin saawan
lambi raatein ghor andhera
mujh sang jaagaa deepak mera
ham donon ne bhor bhayi tak
ro ro dekha rasta tera
kyaa hota hai dukh birha ka
tu kyaa jaane baalmaa
tere bin saawan kaise beetaa
tere bin saawan kaise beetaa
tu kyaa jaane baalmaa
tere bin saawan

Thank you for posting another one of Madan Mohan’s hauntingly beautiful melody. There is a longer (6-min) audio version available, which has a cleaner sound than that of the shorter video version that you have linked to. Also, I don’t know if the song actually made it in the film itself. Nonetheless, it is a lovely composition with Lata ji’s captivating voice bringing to life the expressive poetry of Raja Mehdi Ali Khan.

Another duet song from the same movie sung by mahendra kapoor and lata is also superb.
Mahendra kapoor, got many songs on that period to sing with lata because there was some misunderstandings between lata and rafi over royalty issue or some other issues, I don`t know exactly.
lyrics of the song:
“Dhoonde tujhko nain deewane, aa jaa aajaa re, in nainon ki pyaas bujhaane aa jaa aa jaa re”
