Dhak dhak karti chali jeewan ki rail re

on:Bollywood movies and Indian Railways are two of the major unifying factors for this vast nation of India. And these two often come face to face. We have people sitting in railway trains and singing songs (ask beggars on local trains) and on the other hand we have movies depicting songs sung in trains.
I have posted several songs picturised on trains. This is a train song too, and I stumbled upon this song just recently. What a racy and lovely song this is ! Moreover, this is a rare song, the kind that I like to post in this blog to mark special occasions. And this occasion is indeed very special.
Yes, believe it or not, this song is the 2000th song of this blog. 2000 songs in 14 months is a barely believable feat even for myself. And I take this opportunity to thank all my visitors, readers, commentators, well wishers and supporters whose encouragement has ensured this landmark.
Coming back to the song, this song is quite an approproiate song for the occasion , I feel. The journey of this blog is like the journey of passengers in a train. And in this song, a lady (who is she ? can anyone identify her) joyously sings and dances on a moving train, and the song is quite a philosophical song too. The song basically says that happiness and sorrow is part of our lives and they keep coming oner after another, as certainly as one station follows another.
PS-The lady is Rehana. I thank Richard S for identifying her.
This fantastic song is sung by Geeta Dutt and it is composed by Gyan Dutt. The movie is an obscure movie called “Dilruba” (1950). This movie had 4 lyricists in it viz Rajinder Krishan, S H Bihari, Butaram Sharma and Nilkanth Tiwari. No one knows who out of the four wrote this song, but whoever wrote this song did a grand job.
So here is this landmark song for this blog. Here is hoping that this blog, with the blessings of its followers will go from strength to strength in the time to come. I take this opportunity to thank all my patrons whole-heartedly.
Song-Dhak dhak karti chali jeewan ki rail re (Dilruba) (1950) Singer-Geeta Dutt, Lyrics-Rajinder Krishan/ B R Sharma/ S H Bihari/Nilkanth Tiwari, MD-Gyan Dutt
Lyrics
dhak dhak karti chali
ham sab se kahti chali
jeewan ki rail re
jeewan ki rail re
dhak dhak karti chali
ham sab se kahti chali
jeewan ki rail re
jeewan ki rail re
mohabbat ka naam hai
dilon ka mel re
mohabbat ka naam hai
dilon ka mel re
dhak dhak karti chali
ham sab se kahti chali
jeewan ki rail re
jeewan ki rail re
jab tak hai jeena
jee lo hilmil ke
haay jee lo hilmil ke
sab hain musaafir ek hi manzil ke
sab hain musaafir ek hi manzil ke
jeene ka naam hai dilon ka mel re
jeene ka naam hai dilon ka mel re
dhak dhak karti chali
ham sab se kahti chali
jeewan ki rail re
jeewan ki rail re
seth ke libaas me
saath saath chor chala
saath saath chor chala
seth ke libaas me
saath saath chor chala
saath saath chor chala
o bhala lage
bhala lage
bhala lage tujhe buraa
buraa lage tujhe bhalaa
seth ke libaas me
saath saath chor chala
saath saath chor chala
bhala lage tujhe bura
bura lage tujhe bhala
bhale bure dono hain nazron ke khel re
bhale bure dono hain nazron ke khel re
dhak dhak karti chali
ham sab se kahti chali
jeewan ki rail se
jeewan ki rail se
sukh dukh
sukh dukh
sukh dukh
sukh dukh
sukh dukh
sukh dukh
sukh dukh
sukh aaye dukh aaye
sukh aaye dukh aaye
teshan ke baad dekho teshan chalaa jaaye
teshan ke baad dekho teshan chalaa jaaye
aaye sukh aaye
sukh aaye dukh aaye
teshan ke baad dekho teshan chalaa jaaye
sukh dukh dono hai kismat ke khel re
sukh dukh dono hai kismat ke khel re
dhak dhak karti chali
ham sab se kahti chali
jeewan ki rail se
jeewan ki rail se
dhak dhak karti chali
ham sab se kahti chali
jeewan ki rail se
jeewan ki rail se
dhak dhak dhak dhak dhak dhak dhak dhak
dhak dhak dhak dhak dhak dhak dhak dhak
