Raat hai taaron bhari

on:When one talks of a movie called “Pardes”, one may be reminded of a recent movie (recent by the standards of this blog) that was released in 1997. But the first movie of this name was released as far back as in 1950.
This old movie, viz “Pardes” (1950) had some beautiful songs in it. This song from “Pardes” is one of these nice songs. But what makes this song extra special is that this song is a rare song unlike some other songs of this movie.
this song is sung by Lata. Shakeel Badayuni is the lyricist and Ghulam Mohammad is the music director.
The lady dancing on this song looks familiar, but I am not able to say for sure who she is. Can any reader help me by identifying her ?
PS-The lady is Chanchal, sister of Madhubala. I thank Veena Seth for this valuable information.
Song-Raat hai taaron bhari (Pardes) (1950) Singer-Lata, Lyrics- Shakeel Badayuni, MD-Ghulam Mohammad
Lyrics
raat hai taaron bhari
chitki huyi chaandni
aise mein aa baalmaa
pyaar ki baaten karen
ho pyaar ki baaten karen
raat hai taaron bhari
chitki huyi chaandni
aise me aa baalmaa
pyaar ki baaten karen
ho pyaar ki baaten karen
ho ho o o
nain lade nain se
jiya mera kho gaya
ho jiya mera kho gaya
nain lade nain se
jiya mera kho gaya
ho jiya mera kho gaya
dekhte hi dekhte
haay ye kyaa ho gaya
dekhte hi dekhte
haay ye kyaa ho gaya
chaand ko aayi hansi
jhoom uthi zindagi
aise me aa baalmaa
pyaar ki baaten karen
ho pyaar ki baaten karen
raat hai taaron bhari
chitki huyi chaandni
aise me aa baalmaa
pyaar ki baaten karen
ho pyaar ki baaten karen
ho ho o o
tera zamaana haseen
meri muhabbat jawaan
ho meri muhabbat jawaan
tera zamaana haseen
meri muhabbat jawaan
ho meri muhabbat jawaan
beet na jaaye kahin
ab ye suhaana samaa
beet na jaaye kahin
ab ye suhaana samaa
milti hai duniya nayi
tu hai mera main teri
aise me aa baalmaa
pyaar ki baaten karen
ho pyaar ki baaten karen
raat hai taaron bhari
chitki huyi chaandni
aise me aa baalmaa
pyaar ki baaten karen
ho pyaar ki baaten karen

Looks like Cuckoo … The dancing queen before Helen took over Indian cinema. I read somewhere that it was Cuckoo who got Helen into Indian cinema.
Here is another one from Pardes by Shamshad Begum (and Cuckoo):

I think that is Cuckoo, although it’s hard to tell without a closeup of her face…
