on:I have posted several songs from “Kaala Bazaar” (1960), and they are all wonderful songs. Here is another song in the same league from this movie.
It is sung by Geeta Dutt and Sudha Malhotra. Shailendra is the lyricist and S D Burman is the music director.
This song, which is a bhajan, has in fact become a fairly common Bhajan/ prayer in many households/ gatherings, such has been the impact of this song over the decades.

Saw this movie today.
What a lovely movie it is!
Dev Anand and Waheeda together were always a lovely combo and this movie is no exception. Vijay Anand’s direction is very good and the songs are just brilliant!!!
Like this bhajan. After watching the movie, of all the lovely songs it has, the one that I wanted to immediately watch again was not “khoya khoya chand” or “apni to bas”.
It was this bhajan. I have heard it 5 times already – and everytime it just makes even more of an impression on me.
My salute to Shailendra for the lyrics, SD Burman for the music and Geeta Dutt and Sudha Malhotra for their singing. I cannot get enough of this bhajan.
