I keep stumbling upon rare gems. But this gem is something different altogether.
This song is from a movie called “Jauhri” (1951) and not too many people, including sites claiming expertise on old Bollywood movies have much information about this movie and its music. The fact that a song which is so obscure has actually seen the light of the day is commendable. People who have still preserved a movie this obscure and keep uploading such gems deserve heartiest thanks from all the lovers of old Bollywood music.
This song is sung by Geeta Dutt and picturised on Geeta Bali. There is another lady in the picturisation but I am unable to recognise her.
Finding out details about the lyricist and music director is quite a Herculean task. They are not the names too many people are familiar with. Lyricist is called Shola Kahaamavi and the music director was Pt Harbans Lal.
This song is a rare song and a gem. I count myself very lucky that I stumbled upon this rare gem. It is a great find indeed.
