Dekho dekho madam

on:A couple of songs from “Pyaar Mohabbat” (1966) are the two longest pending farmaishes for this blog. And I was unable to post these songs since I could not locate these songs all these days. Moreover, I too was curious about these songs, since these songs were “new” for me.
Now my wait is over and I have managed to locate the links of these songs.
Here is one of these songs. “Dekho dekho madam” was definitely a “new” song for me, and I enjoyed listening to ( and watching) this song. This is a comedy song, and it could be called a “teasing” song as well. Dev Anand and David sing this song aboard a luxury ship and address this song to Saira Bano.
The song is written by Hasrat Jaipuri and music is composed by Shankar Jaikishan. Manna Dey and Rafi are the singers of this song.

dekho dekho madam
suno jo kah chale ham
hai cheez sabse badhiyaa
hai naam jiskaa lollypop
dekho dekho madam
suno jo kah chale ham
hai cheez sabse badhiyaa
hai naam jiskaa lollypop
dekho dekho gori
buri hai dil ki chori
churaaogi jo dil
padegaa bandh jaana
dekho dekho gori
buri hai dil ki chori
churaaogi jo dil
padegaa bandh jaana
dekho dekho gori
maanaa haseen
maanaa jawaan
aapka hai saaraa jahaan
apna bhala kya hai yahaan
chhota sa dil nanhi si jaan
padapapappam
dekho dekho madam
suno jo kah chale ham
hai cheez sabse badhiyaa
hai naam jiskaa lollypop
dekho dekho gori
buri hai dil ki chori
churaaogi jo dil

dekho dekho gori
tan ke jo tum guzre abhi
sijde me thi ye zindagi
mausam ne yoon angdaayi li
pal me bahaar aayi gayi
papapampam
dekho dekho madam
suno jo kah chale ham
hai cheez sabse badhiyaa
hai naam jiskaa lollypop
dekho dekho gori
buri hai dil ki chori
churaaogi jo dil
padegaa bandh jaana
dekho dekho gori
buri hai dil ki chori
churaaogi jo dil
padegaa bandh jaana
dekho dekho gori

So finally this farmaish gets fulfilled. 🙂
I knew this song from my childhood, without knowing the movie and all that.
Then, a few years back, I saw this film. The song comes at the very beginning. I went “Oh, this song is in THIS film…”.
About the film, it starts off OK but then goes downhill very fast.
Thanks for posting this song, Atul.
Catchy song.
