When we think of a Helen , we think of a cabaret dance. we also think of Asha Bhonsle as the playback singer for this dance.
Here is a song sung by Asha Bhonsle and picturised on Helen. It is a dance alright, but it is not a cabaret. Hold your breath, it is a mujra song.
Now, Helen being doing a mujra in a Bollywood movie is nearly as rare as watching Keshto Mukherji in a sober condition in a Bollywood movie. 😉 But surprises do happen, and Helen makes for an interresting Kothewali in this song. Finding her dressed in the traditional mujra dress is certainly going to be a novelty for most fans.
The song is written by Shakeel Badayuni and the music was composed by Naushad. And the movie is “Ganga Jamuna” (1961).
