eXiled Alert! / January 3, 2012
By Team eXiled

We were going to wait ’til the snow melted, but a recent spate of corrupt hack-shill attacks on Team eXiled has prompted us to decide to make an immediate launch of a new project: a no-holds barred campaign to identify and expose corrupt shills and corporate trolls among political journalists and bloggers in the US.

The outpouring from readers in light of our recent exposes of people like Glenn Greenwald, Ezra Klein, Joshua Foust, Adam Serwer, Megan McArdle, David Weigel, Jane Hamsher, Malcolm Gladwell and many others has been fantastic — we know you’ve got our back. We’ll need it.

Can you help us out? (Contribute using PayPal or WePay.)

Do you have anything verifiable that we can share with the public? Send us a tip. Anonymity guaranteed.

Our computers are bulging with files on corrupt publications, bloggers and journalists, and it’s time to get it all out in the open. We’re going to launch a separate website, and a slick corporate troll tracking platform to do it. The blogosphere has a very short memory, allowing blog pundits to hide from their past shilling campaigns. But not anymore…

We will go after the usual pro-corporate/business bloggers posing under the fake ideology of libertarianism and the utterly corrupted religious and right-wing media. But most importantly, we are going to expose the wolves in the progressive henhouse.

Your money will help pay for FOIA requests, inevitable lawyer fees, travel costs to visit archives, and much more. This is serious work. We need your help. (Contribute using PayPal or WePay.)

We will name names. We have seen clear evidence of corrupted blogging and journalism by people affiliated with these media organizations: FireDogLake, Salon, Mother Jones, Atlantic Monthly, Raw Story, The New Yorker, GOOD Magazine, The Washington Monthly and many others that have so far managed to appear squeaky clean and innocent.

This won’t be pretty, and by the end of it, you can be sure there will be a lot of distractions and slander thrown at us. But someone has got to do this nasty job, and we’ve appointed ourselves to do it.

Support us now, and help strike fear into the hearts of corporate trolls.

–Team eXiled

My Greenwald reaction to your takedown is pathetic. Don’t you understand that GG’s issue was with your attribution of his name to Cato, the same attribution made in several other mainstream media outlets, and NOT with your Kahzakstan article, about which Greenwald has nothing to say and doesn’t really care because all he cares about are his feelers? No writer is perfect but GG is beyond contemptible in his corruption, and if I were Glenn Greenwald I’d pretend that your reaction is “hysterical” when in fact GG’s reaction was hysterical and Joshua Foust always attacked critics of the Iraq War or human rights activists as “hysterical” so basically whenever you see someone saying “your reaction is hysterical” you pretty much know they’re a troll. Oh, and I’m going to pretend it hurts your credibility, even though it doesn’t, because I need to convince myself and GG that it does. Also his drug legalization piece being supported by Cato hardly absolves him not disclosing his Koch ties while shilling for Citizens United, and the fact that he’s against gun laws, and for corporate personhood, and takes money from Cato, and the biggest “faux-gressive” supporter of Ron and Rand Paul, all prove that he is in support of all libertarian causes. Commentards need to get real.

If I contribute, will this hurt the reputations of any of these people? Will they ever even know about it? I also notice that you have topics for people who regularly contribute to that blog of fecal remnants, the Huffington Post. But the most popular publication remains conspicuously absent from this list. Yes, I am trying to insinuate that you are protecting Arianna Huffington.

  • 16. Stephen  |  January 4th, 2012 at 11:31 am

I have been suspicious of the financial turnaround at the Atlantic, and their claim that it was driven purely by digital revs.

    http://mashable.com/2011/12/19/the-atlantic-digital-first/

“Over the summer for instance, The Atlantic worked with Mercedes-Benz to develop a series of video interviews with speakers and attendees at its annual Aspen Ideas Festival.”

Of course, this festival is co-run by the Atlantic and the Aspen Institute, which has David Koch on its board. The Atlantic no doubt drives handsome revenues through its corporate shilling it does at the festival.

    http://www.theatlantic.com/personal/archive/2011/06/mercedes-benz-brings-inspiration-from-aspen-to-theatlanticcom/241119/

My suspicion is that the Atlantic’s new-found revenues have something to do with more than just banner ads and pop ups.

Any more on Max Blumenthal attacker Adam Serwer? He’s contradicting the ACLU, et al on the NDAA here: http://motherjones.com/mojo/2011/12/defense-bill-passed-so-what-does-it-do-ndaa

  • 18. jonnym  |  January 4th, 2012 at 1:26 pm

@14: Chomsky’s like 82 years old. If there was any dirt about him worth a damn, it would’ve come out sometime in the last four decades.

I guess he might have an illegitimate kid somewhere but we probably won’t hear about it until after he’s died (which is likely in the next few years, since he’s like 82).

  • 19. Zoner  |  January 4th, 2012 at 1:27 pm

I just started working at Whole Foods, and as soon as my first paycheck clears I’m sending you guys some money, because the CEO is a union-hating dick. You know we’re not even workers and management, we’re “Team Members” and “Team Leaders”. Also, organic is total bullshit and I had to pretend I cared about it during the interview (and I’m not the only one who works there who feels the same).

The worst part about Salon is they clearly have no copy editor (or if they do he’s a drunk). If they’re corrupt too well that’s just a bonus.

  • 23. gafner gundles  |  January 5th, 2012 at 1:03 pm

Hi, I’m pretending that I am writing a serious comment here making insane accusations at The eXiled, while pretending to actually offer help. I’m so fucking clever I think it just may work. I’m pretending that I’m moved by Ames’ more serious work and deeply troubled by Ames’ satirical work from The eXile. I am of course a troll for Joshua Foust. Hell, I may even be someone who worked for the Koch brothers but now works in the progressive world, who knows?

Point is, I’m thinking that attacking Ames, since this hasn’t been tried over and over and over and over by Breitbart, Jim Goad, Gavin McInnes and the rest.

So in sum, all I can say is, “Yabba dabba doo!”

  • 24. GuitarBill  |  January 5th, 2012 at 1:47 pm

A few humble suggestions to add to the exposé list.

[1] AlterNet. Look into their Ford Foundation connections.

[2] Jeff Rense. An enigma wrapped in an anti-Semitic riddle.

[3] Mike Ruppert. More CIA and DEA connections than a switchboard.

[4] The 9/11 “truth” movement. Look into their Republican Party connections and their continued efforts to discredit anti-war movements World-wide.

The aforementioned miscreants should keep you busy for months.

  • 25. dogbane  |  January 5th, 2012 at 3:12 pm

    @ 24
    Re: [4]

I agree. The Truthers are a weird variant of American Exceptionalism, with their insistence that “19 cave-dwelling Arabs” could not have pulled off such an attack and their blindness to the reality of blowback from 80 years of U.S. meddling in the ME and SW Asia. I used to joke that the 9/11 Truth Movement was a Dick Cheney plot to discredit or split the anti-war Left. Maybe not such a joke.

  • 26. gafner gundles  |  January 5th, 2012 at 3:30 pm

    TROLL COMMENT DELETED AGAIN.
The Almighty Exiled Censor only asks that attacks against Ames and The eXiled at least try some new tact, some new angle, besides the cant and feigned moral outrage, it’s getting boring after 5 dozen or so of these same “I’m only worried for your own safety” troll attacks.

    Happy trolling!

  • 27. gafner gundles  |  January 5th, 2012 at 3:37 pm

Wait, I reread the censored version of what you said… You referred to it as satirical work… I thought the Whore-r stories were actual accounts of events that happened. If they’re fictional, then I’m not worried. Actually sleeping with the prostitutes would have, morally, constituted rape BWAHHAHAHAHAHHAHAH!

Oh sorry, that was meant as a moral absolute. I swear I’m not an Evangelical Purtin either, no seriously. It’s just that I don’t believe sex workers have any rights:

    http://www.naplesnews.com/news/2012/jan/03/collier-judge-upholds-stand-your-ground-defense-ca/?partn#comments

Check it out teen defends self is found not guilty, conservatives upset that the weak defended themselves with laws they support.

Comments are the icing on this cake.

  • 29. gafner gundles  |  January 5th, 2012 at 6:24 pm

I’ve already read Whores criticizing the Johns. Did I at any point say that prostitution should be at the workplace like anybody else? I’m taking prostitutes because it included a coercive rape. I think that sex is bad or shameful. But sex has to be impoverished. “Gee, I have dicks for a pittance!” Get real.

Is this discussion to assume that Ames is exploited?

And again, if I could mention Mark Ames’ name I am. Most of the people I’ve met stop trusting these faux-progressive quislings, and the problems I have.

I’m stupid. You’ve heard this before, as you so loudly proclaim. But I am a pretty shitty troll and am utterly incapable of doing your reputation. I mean, anybody would pay me? But I AM a serious problem in the progressive.

And for god’s sake, I might be a troll. Seriously. But not even giving me a chance to prove myself stupid.

  • 30. gafner gundles  |  January 5th, 2012 at 6:25 pm

    Btw, I know sex workers.

Don’t listen to those trolls who say “I miss the War Nerd and the Russia days.” They didn’t even read you, then. Trust me, I know. I’m one of them. Whoops, the overseer on patrol tonite at the New Media Strategies minimum wage, open shop dungeon under George Mason University where I work is coming back down the isle. yeah ask the irish republican army how they did it and they’ll tell you you have to expose the little collaborators. The whole occupy wall st. gig is a dead end. Expose the whores who sell out the community for gold. You don’t change things by railing against corporations. You change things by holding individuals accountable for their actions. Those who make themselves enemies of the community must be exposed for what they really are! And hell yeah I gave money.

  • 34. Bland Rand  |  January 5th, 2012 at 7:28 pm

Ames et al. – you guys are fucking top tier, and I hope your FLN policy (the collaborators are even worse than the fascist fucks running the show) towards these closet authoritarians continues.

I get paid soon, and I have no choice but to send some your way. I hope others follow. I wish I could hop on a plane and join your war against the Oligarchs right fucking now.

Alright, you centrofascists (brilliant, gentlemen!) I’m out. Do not relent! Rage against the waffentwerps and the oligarchs!

  • 41. Demex  |  January 6th, 2012 at 9:08 pm

Look into digbysblog.blogspot.com. She started getting tantalizing publications in The Nation and Al Jazeera; then she brought a low-level Dem party hack on board, and promptly started censoring all the diversity of opinion she used to elicit. Crack-whores drive a tougher bargain.

Hey, I’m pretty sure you’ll delete this, but I love the Exiled and I love Glenn Greenwald’s stuff. He’s apologized and done a full 180 on immigration for example. He’s exposed so much deep shit about the security state and media complicity, why pick on the good guys when there are so few who get it right?

Good luck with all your other take downs though. Cheers.

@#24 Michael Ruppert’s “Connections” to law enforcement and the CIA were to quit them and be one of the only people with the courage to publicly call them out on their corruption. He’s become a bit of a truther/peaker conspiracy dude recently, but his earlier career of muckraking and exposing corruption is solid…or so I say.

  • 54. Jesse  |  January 10th, 2012 at 3:55 pm

It would be better if we had a dictatorship. at least then there’d be a chance the guy at the top would give a shit. What we have is the Brown Nose Collective (BNC) sucking up to rich people, doing things on their own they THINK rich fucks might like. There is no command structure, only a writhing mass of protoplastic greed made up of cowardly greedy brown nosers donating their time and energy to those least needful of charity. Even the rich can’t stop the BNC. The only way to stop the juggernaut of jism gulping sycophants is to expose each and every one of the little cocksuckers.

  • 55. GuitarBill  |  January 11th, 2012 at 12:53 am

    @53

How do you explain Ruppert’s sudden exodus from the United States after being investigated on suspicion of having staged the “burglary” at his offices in Ashland, OR?

No, Mikey wouldn’t lie to the police, now would he?

And how do you explain the following Freudian slip, which is a direct quote from Ruppert’s [cough] “confrontation” of Bill Clinton’s CIA director, John Deutch?

“…I was personally exposed to CIA operations and recruited by CIA personnel, er…who attempted to recruit me in the late 70s.” — Micheal Ruppert

So which was it, Mikey? Were you “recruited by CIA personnel,” or not?

    LOL!

please look at the connections between the washington post editorial board, and its potential ownership of company stock and its promotion of education reform and Michelle Rhee. The city has seen the biggest cheating scandal in its history, yet there is no reporting being done on this issue. Though over 100 schools were implicated in this scandal, according to USA TODAY (YES, USA TODAY did an investigative piece), Wapo sits on its hands. It did not take the baton. Please take it up. Very important. VERY!

  • 58. az  |  January 30th, 2012 at 11:12 am

Why not start a kompromat.ru-style website to fund all this stuff? It will probably be hard to get it off the ground and deal with all the ethical issues to start, but sooner or later money will probably flow in.

That is unless the media/blogosphere has degraded to the point where nothing is really kompromat anymore…

Outstanding work. The Ayn Rand story was enlightening and chilling and now explains why Paul Ryan “dreamed” and “Fantasized” about cutting social programs while at keg parties in college. These people are mentally ill. Keep up he good work, and please keep using facts and reality as weapons in your arsenal….don’t ever go into Alex Jones world. This is war. And we need to win it with cold hard reality.
