Reading about Eric Carle`s birthday over at “An Amazing Child” was a good reminder that it was time to take out one of our favorite books again. This was when we first met The Very Hungry Caterpillar. During the year we have read a few other books either written by Eric Carle, or simply just illustrated by him… including “Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See?” I love Eric Carle’s illustrations. They are so clear, simple and cute.
So we made similar caterpillars to the ones we made a year ago. But this time we drew the caterpillars rather than cutting them out from coloured paper. After colouring in these two cute creatures we cut them out and glued two lollipop sticks onto one of them and two drinking straws onto the other. The other`s legs were just too long for lollipop sticks. But the straws worked well too. Now we had two caterpillar puppets ready to play with!
They crawled quickly into the garden to check their veggies and flowers. First of all they had to say hello to the Brown Bear of course. The brown bear is made of coloured tissue paper. Just like Eric Carle does!
After greeting the Brown Bear it was time to check on the dill plants…
Followed by the carrots and coriander…
And the potatoes…
And tomatoes…
And peas…
Not to forget the sunflowers…
And the pretty flowers in the hanging basket!
