The house itself was built in 1870, which I love, and retains a LOT of original features. Sort of sleepy place that has one train an hour, and if you want to catch a bus, you’ve got two options only.

We’re also planning to start keeping chickens, which I’m sure our cats, Fudge and Pearl will love, as well as installing a log burner to keep the place cozy and a range in the kitchen for Max. There’s a velux skylight in the master bedroom (original to the build third floor/loft), with views from bed over the countryside – wild deer have been spotted in the adjoining fields before.  We do, of course, plan the usual – new kitchen, bathroom, complete re-decoration from top to bottom etc.

Three story property, and the pictures miss out the middle floor (which has two bedrooms on it and a bathroom – soon to be an office, a guest room and a bathroom).

We’re just today getting the written survey back after having spoken with the surveyor directly yesterday. Considering the house is 144 years old, has seen two World Wars, and 6 Monarchs, it’s in amazingly good condition. Hopefully we’ll progress to contracts quickly, and get everything tied up, but we’re in no major rush to leave the smoke.

I’m not going to lie – this city boy who, by choice, thought he’d live in new build style apartments all his life is pretty chuff and excited to be shunning it all for a life feeding chickens out in the Peak District!
