More than 30 promotional stills released for House of the Dragon’s second episode, The Rogue Prince!

HBO has released a ton of new promotional photos for the second episode in this first season of House of the Dragon, which will be titled The Rogue Prince!

Although there are more than 30 images below, all of them taken by photographer Ollie Upton, nothing is spoiled that hasn’t appeared in trailers, but still, tread carefully if you’re particularly sensitive to spoilers of any kind.

We see Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen (Milly Alcock), the Queen to Be, together in the Red Keep with Lady Rhaenys Targaryen (Eve Best), the Queen Who Never Was, in a conversation that, if you recall, was already teased in the trailers:

In the gardens of the Red Keep, king Viserys I Targaryen (Paddy Considine) talks to Lady Rhaenys and her husband Lord Corlys Velaryon (Steve Toussaint), Lord of the Tides, Master of Driftmark, and Master of Ships in the small council:

Speaking of the small council, here we see it convened: King Viserys; Ser Otto Hightower (Rhys Ifans), the Hand of the King; Lord Corlys, the Master of Ships; Lord Lyonel Strong (Gavin Spokes), the Master of Laws; Lord Lyman Beesbury (Bill Paterson), the Master of Coin; Grand Maester Mellos (David Horovitch); Ser Harrold Westerling (Graham McTavish), probably the Lord Commander of the Kingsguard at this point (goodbye Ser Ryam, I guess!); and, of course, last but not least, Rhaenyra, Princess of Dragonstone, heir to the throne and… cupbearer!

In what may be the most spoilerific photo of the bunch, we see Ser Criston Cole (Fabien Frankel) in a familiar armor and white cloak. It seems we’ll see Ser Criston join the order of the Kingsguard in this episode—which, very much like Ser Harrold being Lord Commander, probably means Ser Ryam Redwyine (played by Garry Cooper in “The Heirs of the Dragon”) will have died between episodes.

A depressed Ser Otto. A Depresserotto:

King Viserys’ sculpted model of Valyria is coming along nicely, compared to how we last saw it. Also coming along nicely? Ser Otto’s schemes, as we see Lady Alicent Hightower (Emily Carey) visit the king in his chambers again…

Thankfully, the king’s room isn’t an Alicent-only area at this point. We see King Viserys welcome his daughter and heir, Princess Rhaenyra, to his chambers:

The final stills show the conflict that give the episode its name. You may notice Prince Daemon Targaryen (Matt Smith) isn’t in Runestone with his wife. He’s in a location well known to Game of Thrones fans: Dragonstone. And he’s not alone: he’s with Mysaria (Sonoya Mizuno) and his personal army of Gold Cloaks. We see Ser Otto in the Red Keep, armored for the first time (in a heart-to-heart with his daughter Lady Alicent) and later in Dragonstone. This is the conflict over a dragon egg we’ve seen in the trailers, as Ser Otto faces the Rogue Prince in Dragonstone’s stairs, backed by a few of the Kingsguard and several king’s men.

  1. King Aegon’s A Song of Ice and Fire dream ties into Littlefinger and Varys Chaos is a Ladder conversation in S3 E6 The Climb…. “The Realm? Do you know what the realm is? It’s the thousand blades of Aegon’s enemies. A story we agree to tell each over and over till we forget that it’s a lie”.

King Aegon the Conqueror🔥 is really King Aegon the Champion fighting to unite the 6 Kingdoms and Dorne so all of Westeros fights the future Doom coming from the North… Beyond the Wall

  2. All good, but I still can’t stand Corlys’ wig 🙁
Game of Thrones, and now Hot D, did such a great job with costumes and this particular thing is hard to watch 😀

On close-up still, it’s clear that the material choice for wig is just wrong. That’s not how hair ‘behave’, especially a single string of hair.

  3. Viserys looks so wholesome and nice and decent, I want to hug him every time he appears on the screen. Paddy is just perfect in this role.
