  1. As usual, thanks a bunch guys keep the hard work.
    I have a doubt:
When the files are bigger than usual, i.e. Episode 1 and 7, they seem to lag a bit, like the frames not showing slightly and smooth as they should, I mean they sometimes look like stoping for milliseconds, usually on the opening secuence.
It happens on my PS3 Fat and my friend’s PS3 Slim, so is normal, or rather our PS3s are on the mood :P
It is just a doubt, I’m in fact really thankful for your work, and keep it up. Hope to see that Macross Frontier PS3 Encode @1080p hehe.

    • You’re not imagining things. That lag is very real. It’s especially apparent when the camera is panning, right? It’s as if the scene stands still for a split second—it’s probably best described as “choppy”. This is due to the RAW’s we’re using. The reason why the file size is so big is because of the fact that we used a RAW that was less than ideal—most likely, a RAW with variable frame rate. We had to decimate the video to 29.970, even though in some scenes the frame rate was over 120 frames per second. That is what’s causing the “stutter” or the “chppyness.” Unfortunately, the Playstation 3 won’t play frame rates over a certain threshold (we’ve never gotten it to play anything above 40 fps). So, leaving the video in variable frame rate format isn’t viable.

Normally, we decimate our releases to 23.976, which consumes less space.

      • Thanks for the reply.
Luckly the episodes themselves look pretty good, it usually is just the opening, since its the most fps rate of most animes.
I remeber watching Rosario+Vampire Capu2 on my old PC @720p and during the opening and ending sequences my PC almost died :P
And again thanks a bunch, hope you find another reliable RAW source wich gives you better results.

    • Mine is erdvilla XD Actually you can spot me almost everywhere as that. Except if you see somebody with that nick on a porn site or commiting a crime… thats not me. I swear. Truly.
