Today, our very good affiliates Mundie Moms are guest blogging here at Novel Novice. Why, you ask? Well, besides the fact that they’re good friends to us & that they’re one of the top fansites for Cassandra Clare’s Mortal Instruments series, they are ALSO featuring Cassie’s new book, Clockwork Angel throughout the month of August. So without further ado, here is what Katie of Mundie Moms has to say about their great site & what they have to offer:
Mundie Moms is one part forum, one part blog, mixed together with some sass and fun. Our blog features all of Cassie’s latest news (which is also on our forum), as well as YA books reviews, giveaways and more. We love reading and helping promote what we read, along with up and coming YA books. You’ll find we do this by sharing our reviews and author interviews, having giveaways, participating in blog tours and hosting live author chats. The live author chats are something that I think sets us apart from other sites. When we first started, I couldn’t find anyone who had authors coming on to chat live with their fans. It’s one of my favorite things we do. I love chatting with authors, but I really enjoy fans being able to come and talk to their favorite authors from all the over the world. We also have a members only forum (all you have to do is sign up, and it’s free).
Our forum features many different areas of discussion including the latest Cassandra Clare news, TMI and ID series, other YA books, and writing. We have a Book Of The Month forum with books selected by Cassie along with Mundie Mom selections. We also feature a monthly Debut Author and spotlight other releases. Our newest “baby” is Mundie Kids which features toddler to middle school age book reviews.
We started a few weekly features on Mundie Moms like Mundane Monday, Twitter Tuesday, Thoughtful Thursday and Freebie Friday. Our Mundane Monday posts feature a quote from one of the TMI books and now CWA. Twitter Tuesday is a post that spotlights something one of our favorite authors has tweeted about, usually having to do with their book or a giveaway. With our Thoughtful Thursday post we spotlight an organization that any of our followers can get involved in and we feature them from around the globe. We love to give books and book swag away, which is why we started Freebie Friday!!
This month’s Clockwork Angel celebrations have provided us with a lot of fun giveaways that we have going on now and will have happening soon. We have CWA swag, book copies and jewelry to giveaway. We kicked off our CWA celebration with the posting of our interview with Cassie. In the few days we will be sharing some character interviews, character blurbs, Cassie’s CWA playlists, CWA excerpts and more. It’s a very exciting month. On September 8th we’ll be having a live chat with Cassie! We can’t wait.
It’s been so much fun watching Mundie Moms grow into something much bigger than I ever thought possible. We have fun doing what we love, reading books, sharing reviews, hosting giveaways and meeting some amazing people along the way who are authors, publishers and fellow bloggers.
