A Peek at the Apocalypse, X-Men Style

Singer_X-Men_Apocalypse_instagramHere we have a peek at the coming Apocalypse — no, not the Zombie Apocalypse we watch every week on THE WALKING DEAD — this is Apocalypse, the mutant, the Big Bad in the upcoming X-Men: Apocalypse movie.

Director Bryan Singer posted this image to his Instagram and captioned it:

Some production art. #XmenApocalypse #GrantMajor I was a little busy but will continue to snap more.

The image was painted by production designer Grant Major (who also worked on the Lord of the Rings trilogy), and while Singer did not explain what it depicts, to me it appears to show ancient mutant En Sabah Nur encountering the mysterious alien ship that grants him a boatload of new powers and turns him into Apocalypse.

The titular bad guy will be played by Oscar Isaac (Star Wars: Episode VII — The Force Awakens) when production gets under way in April. He will be joined by returning X-Men cast members James McAvoy (Professor X), Michael Fassbender (Magneto), Jennifer Lawrence (Mystique) and Rose Byrne (Moira McTaggert), along with newbies Sophie Turner (Jean Grey), Tye Sheridan (Cyclops), Alexandra Shipp (Storm) and Channing Tatum (Gambit). Supposedly, Hugh Jackman will make “an appearance,” as will “old” Magneto, Ian McKellen.

X-Men: Apocalypse is slated to open May 19, 2016.

Oh, yeah? Sez you!
