I finished this book over a week ago and have been lax in writing my thoughts about it.  It was a great sequel to Crank – it carried us forward from where Crank ended.  It was so real and scary that it took me a bit to read it.  I’ll admit it touched me in so many ways.  The struggles of an addict intermixed with the struggles of a young Mother – I just couldn’t imagine the pressures and the pulls that Kristina/Bree experienced.  There were times where I wanted to reach into the book and knock some sense into that girl – but realized that many of these experiences needed to be worked through by Kristina.

As I noted above Glass starts shortly after where Crank ends.  Without spoiling either book, Kristina continues her journey from Crank to Crystal and onto Glass.  Unfortunately for Kristina she now has her family to contend with – more so than ever before.  She meets Trey and believes that he will help her with her many and varied issues – but we all know that life doesn’t always lead us down the right path.  Kristina makes decisions, that I personally feel that she may never recover from.

I can’t say enough great things about these books – as scary and real as they are – I found it hard to tear myself away and move onto another book.  I cannot wait to read the third in this series Fallout. I suspect it will be harder to read than the first two.  From reading the little bit about it at the end of both of these books – I think it will show us what the “fallout” of an addicted young teenager can create.
