In My Mailbox 37

Bonjour my lovely readers! I have returned from my trip to the beautiful city of Paris! I hope you enjoyed the selection of scheduled posts and guest bloggers from the past week while I was away, such as my interview with The Paris Wife‘s Paula McLain, a W.o.W. post & review featuring books by Amy Plum, Nicole’s Places to See in Paris, Wendy’s mouth-watering post of French pastries and Sara’s guest review of Jennifer Donnelly’s Revolution.

If you missed my Paris Month edition of In My Mailbox last week, you can check it out here and see a sneak peek at some of the books I’ll be featuring throughout this month’s blog event.

Curious what I saw on my trip? Here’s a snapshot of my vacation!

Now, on with this week’s IMM! (I’m TRYING not to buy any more books this month since my birthday’s coming up on the 27th!)

The Golden Lily (Bloodlines, #2) by Richelle Mead <– For read & review from Razorbill

My Life in Black & White by Natasha Friend <– For read & review from Razorbill

Titanic 2012 by Robert W. Walker <– Free on Kindle, a horror/suspense/sci-fi fiction novel. Seemed appropriately timed to check out!

The Invention of Hugo Cabret by Brian Selznick & Hugo Blu-Ray <– Won from Jenn @ Misbehavin’ Librarian . Amazing timing for my Paris Month! Look forward to a review/comparison of the book & movie later in the month 😉

Paris Macabre: Histoires etranges & merveilleuses by Rodolphe Trouilleux <– Yup, I bought a French book in Paris! I always try to buy a book about the local ghost stories but when I asked at Shakespeare & Company, they said it’s not really a popular subject with the French apparently. So when I saw this book, even if it was in French, at Galeries Lafayette I just had to get it and attempt to read it 🙂

Secrets, Legends and Mysteries of Old Paris by Patrick Hemmler <– A small book (in English!) I purchased in Paris about the 1st-7th arrondisements (“old Paris”) with some interesting historical tidbits of key streets and landmarks in those 7 areas.

What did you guys get this week? Leave your link and I’ll be sure to check it out 🙂

  2. Paris Macabre looks like a very intriguing read. I love ghost stories as well – especially ones related to a specific town or area. Also, you’re very lucky to have received The Golden Lily! That’s the number one on my wishlist! Enjoy reading!

  3. Hi there Michele, like you, I also try to purchase books from each city that I visit – and the ones that you have here from Paris look very nice (especially Paris Macabre). I am also happy to see Hugo Cabret here, I’ve read the book and watched the film with my ten year old daughter who simply adored it! She also devoured Wonderstruck. Brian Selznick is simply brilliant. Enjoy your new reads!
