Today’s proceedings begin with the cross-examination of Sharon Bychowski, neighbor and friend of Stacy Peterson and then moved on to Bruce Zidarich who was questioned about his plans to paint with Stacy the day she disappeared..
Rescueapet is attending the public hearing today and has shared with us some of her observations from this morning. Sorry they are mostly in note form:
- Drew Peterson is wearing a suit in court today. He stood and scanned the whole courtroom before taking a seat.
- George Lenard was doing the cross examination of Sharon. He asked her if she disliked Drew Peterson and the State objected. Sharon went on to say that she and Drew would speak and that she disliked what she believes he did to Stacy.
- Lenard asked her about an incidence of a group at her house playing loud music on an ipod, specifically the song “Bad Boys” outside her house. She answered that there was music being played and that was one of the songs among others, that it could be heard in the driveway and that Drew was standing at the end of the driveway.
- Sharon stated that she was very close to Stacy. Lenard asked if Stacy trusted her enough to talk to her about her menstrual cycle. Sharon asked what he meant and he said, “Did Stacy trust you?” Sharon replied that she assumed Stacy trusted her but that he was asking her to say what Stacy thought and that she couldn’t do that.
- She was asked if she had any contracts for books or any other sort of media contract and she replied that she did not. She stated that when Joe Hosey interviewed her and later used that interview in a book, she wasn’t aware that it would be used in that way. Also said that she has made no money.
- She was questioned about Avon a lot. Lenard seemed to be trying to show that Sharon’s interest in the case might be somehow tied to promoting Avon. He asked “Hasn’t this been good for Avon?” and Sharon stated “I never mention Avon.” Stacy did some Avon work for Sharon and they did contact her to make sure that Stacy had not been on an Avon errand at the time she went missing. Because of liability issues, perhaps?
- Sharon was questioned about the incident of Greta Van Susteren changing clothes in her bathroom. She was asked, “Did Greta being in your house make you feel special?” She replied that since this all began “nothing makes me feel special”.
- Sharon testified that the search boat is in storage in Ottowa and that it will be donated to a missing persons group.
- Lenard asked Sharon about what Stacy had told her about her mother (Christie Cales). Sharon said that Stacy told her her mother had left for church one day and never came home and that she loved her mother.
- Sharon stated that Stacy told her that the money she withdrew the week before she disappeared was used to pay off a loan for a motorcycle.
- Sharon testified that Stacy told her having sex with Drew made her skin crawl and that she wanted a divorce, had packed up boxes of his things.
- Lenard tried to nail down whether Stacy was planning on keeping all four chikdren with her after she and Drew split or just the two youngest, and Sharon answered that Stacy was interested in the safety of all the children.
- Lenard said, “Stacy was a flirt, wasn’t she?” To which Sharon answered that Stacy was outgoing. (I think that’s what she said – we’ll have to confirm that later)
- As for Bruce Zidarich’s testimony there was very little. He confirmed the paint date and text messages between Stacy and Bruce from October 27th were projected on a screen.

I cannot believe that Stacy would have thought sleeping with someone in front of Drew was the solution.

Rescue, what was the line of questioning that led to this testimony? Was it about the text messages?
I’m hoping Rescue can fill us in on how Bruce sounded when he gave that testimony. Was it a serious idea or, as Coffee guessed, just something she blurted out to indicate how badly she wanted out of the marriage and away from Drew’s control?
I am absolutely sure it was taken out of context and had never been Stacy’s intention. It just shows how much she wanted to leave Drew and how difficult it was.
I agree, Cyrhla. We all spout things off the top of our frustrated heads from time to time. Unfortunately, some people like Drew, mean them.
Well hmmmm, was Drew aware Stacy had actually said something like this to her friends, considering he did a lot of complaining about her supposed infidelities but never said anything about her wanting to have sex in front of him at their house.
If he had known what she said, he would have gotten unlimited mileage out of it and he didn’t, so Stacy obviously never mentioned it to him…….

I’ve never been in an intimate relationship w. a murderer, but I would guess there were times Stacy’s knowledge of DP’s crime against Kitty did make her feel safe. However, I think that feeling of safety would easily change to terror with just one argument. Then, you would be sure not only that you were in danger, but also feel pretty damned isolated.

Watch the Defense going to triumphantly run with Bruce Zidarich’s statement as these are the crumbs they can make a big deal out of, but it’s all a bag of wind as Stacy never had sex with another man in front of her husband in their house or Drew would have shouted that from the roof from day one (!!)

There was a witness for the State, who is now retired. He was in a management capacity, I believe, at Meijers. He was the kind of witness who just answered what was asked of him by both sides. He was very cordial, and he seemed to be a very genuine, nice man.
Anyway, he filled-in with how he would call Drew for things, Drew would help him out, and he could count on Drew if he needed something.
This is the man who Drew contacted at a point to see about getting TMorphey a job. Drew talked to Mr. Gotto (I hope I have his correct name), I believe a couple of weeks before Stacy went missing. Mr. Gotto testified that a decision was made not to hire TMorphey. He was asked specifically, on redirect exam, if Drew was informed by him that they would not be hiring TMorphey, and he answered yes, that Drew was informed of this.
It was asked of him if Drew had an appointment to bring TMorphey in there on either 10/27 or 10/28 (Drew has said that he was supposed to bring TMorphey in there about a job).
NO, he did not have an appointment for Tom on either 10/27 or 10/28
So, he said that Tom had already been considered and turned down for a job at the store before the 27th and that Drew was aware of that?

Thanks rescue! If Drew hadn’t been shooting his mouth off with his false story about Meijers, LE wouldn’t have known to check it out. Twit. I’m with others above about what Stacy said to Bruce about sleeping with someone else and for Drew to know. Although it would be understandable if she had, she didn’t say she could kill him or wished he would die. I don’t think defense can do much with that.It’s obvious it was a desperate thing to say.
The one thing that stands out in my mind is Sharon’s response to a question asked of her about whether she thought Stacy trusted her. As I mentioned to Facs when I spoke to her during a break, Sharon replied that she was being asked to assume Stacy’s thoughts, and she can’t do that.
I don’t get the connection between the menstrual cycle discussions. I don’t know if it was supposed to mean they were so close, they could talk about that, or if he was getting at the idea that Stacy acted as though Drew said she did when she was premenstrual. I just don’t know, and I wish I did. 😉

She asked the LE people if it was okay, and so they went into the powder room, with her intention being to hear what he wanted to talk to her about. He made a strange remark to her. She was shocked at this remark, and wondered why they were even in there.
There was a time when Drew, Stacy, and Sharon were dressed up for an occasion, and Drew made a remark to Sharon that she looked nice, and he’d “do her.” Mr. Lenard spent a few minutes on that term/remark, to get Sharon to describe what she thought her definition of “do her” meant. Apparently, Sharon didn’t think their relationship was such that she would think “do her” meant what he wanted it to mean. Prior to that, he asked whether Sharon knew about him being a jokster.
I’m not really going to describe this line of questioning further, because, at this point, I don’t understand a lot of what was being asked and why. It was, well, not exactly moving me to think how effective the defense was. I’m only going to say that this is the way the defense’s questioning goes with witnesses.
A lot of the time, they take a witness’s testimony, and repeat a question, in five different ways, only to get the same answer, with no deviation.
There was an instance where a neighbor, who was on the stand today, described seeing a suspicious gentleman, matching Drew’s description, walking down the same street they were, while they were walking their dog early Sunday evening, avoiding them (there were two different neighbors seeing the same suspicious “man”). He was wearing a dark sweatshirt, with the hood pulled up. Andrew Abood, in his cross examination, spent I can’t tell you how much time, bringing up the fact that this neighbor referred to the suspicious man as a “gentleman” in his ISP interview. He tried a half dozen ways to elaborate on that specific word, even breaking it up — gentle man. Finally, the witness had to clarify that he refers to women as ladies and men as gentlemen. He said he doesn’t refer to men as “criminals.” That drew laughter, Abood looked ridiculous. When I looked over at SA Glasgow, he and another attorney had their faces in their hands, shaking their heads.
Maybe. Unless Stacy just did pregnancy test that morning. And the only ones that knew were Drew and Stacy.

I’m sorry, everyone, there were times were I was not always able to hear questions and/or answers. Bruce’s remark about Stacy sleeping with someone is something I, personally, missed. So, I can’t answer to that specific statement.
Before you go off on the “idea” that Stacy may have been “pregnant,” let me say that I think the defense was getting at the idea that maybe Stacy’s hormones were out of control sometimes, and they wanted to know, via Sharon, if they discussed those things, or maybe something along that line.
How do you get “pregnant” from that line of questioning? I’d be curious to hear the reasons.
If that were the case then I guess it woudn’t have mattered how much Stacy trusted Sharon, since she never would have had the chance to tell her. So the question would have been moot.
I’m just not ready to assume the defense has any rabbits in their hats here. From the sounds of it these cross-exams have been pretty off-the-cuff and sloppy.
And really, isn’t the case tragic enough without looking for ever more ghoulish twists?

Drew went through this charade to verify for himself who was at Sharons house, which LE officials were there, possibly what division etc, in order for him to ascertain what he was up against or what specifics they were investigating.
By doing that he kept his finger on the pulse where everything was heading and what action he had to take next.

GAR – you know, I think I can answer that question.
When you hear the witness testimony, and then the cross examination, it’s just unnerving, at times. You can see it throughout the courtroom.
Yes, I am sure when you look at it from the defense’s side, there are a “time or two” they think they get an answer they’re looking for, but I can honestly say and I mean this with all my heart, there is nothing going on in that courtroom on behalf of the defense that gives me pause. Andrew Abood is very animated, and whenever the State calls their next witness, he rolls his eyes, turns to the spectators, looks at his fellow attorneys, and looks like he’s going to pop off the walls.
At times, you can see people squirming in their seats, shaking their heads, at the absurd questions asked, five times.
For example, the neighbor man who was walking with his wife was tortured with Abood’s line of questioning about the color blue. So, Abood asked him to name a few colors of things in the courtroom. At one point, he must have wanted him to answer “brown” when asking him what the color of the wood was, and Mr. Neighbor answered “grain,” if I recall correctly. This had to do with his description of the color of the sweat thing the suspicious “gentle man” was wearing. I mean, if that doesn’t want to make you pull your hair out, I don’t know what would. Yet, each witness was calm, composed, and so accurate and believable.
Seeing justice in action would be a great thing, from both sides, but I just can’t say I was overwhelmed with the defense. I can’t.
At this point, it’s up to Judge White to sort it all out. My opinion, nor anyone else’s, means nothing.
The blue barrel is bugging me. Are they airtight or would the defendent have had to change containers if he indeed went along with plan A. He would have had to purchase it somewhere. What kind of container is airtight and how many places distribute them in the area? I would think they would be purchased in bulk for companies and not really for individual use. Just a thought.
IMO, whether or not Stacy was pregnant is irrelevant. How will anyone ever find out now?

My guess is that the barrel was made that way to keep the chlorine fresh.The lid can be put back on and resealed kind of like a 5 gallon paint container.It just presses back on as you press circularly around the rim. To unseal it you have to pry up one end with a screwdriver and then unseal it by circular prying with the fingers all the way around.A 50 Gal drum would last many,many years for pool use.It was stated that the person who sold it to him came forward with a purchase receipt.I’m wondering if he’ll be testifying. My guess is though he used the same barrel and if it couldn’t be resealed in the way I’ve explained, then there are many other ways to reseal it. Bands,melting,super glue lol.

I agree with rescue. The whole mentrual cycle theory has been blabbed across the media for two years by Drew. The defense is searching for any small tidbit they can extract from someones testimony in order to breathe some credibility into Drew’s “account” of Stacy’s mentruel cycle mood swings.
I don’t like Bruce’s testimony. It’s a bit bizarre to me. At best I can imagine someone saying, “what’s it going to take to get him from loving and controling me? Do I have to sleep with another man?” …and so on
I can see sarcarsm, but not ever stated in a serious way. Stacy does not appear to be the type that would place another person in danger.
From the reports, Sharon really seems to have done very well today under the pressure. She gave some very good replies. The whole Avon promotion issue makes no sense. I’ve never heard one word about Avon on the boards. Explain how one dead and one missing woman help promote beauty products? The only “Dingdong” I hear is coming from the defense.
The prosecution has to prove that Stacy is deceased or unable to give testimony herself, for anything she said to family, friends, and her pastor to be presented as hearsay evidence. I think the defense is going to try to argue that Stacy isn’t deceased. They will say she had PMS and every month threatened Drew with divorce, and they’re going to say she ran off with another man on Oct. 28, 2007 because she was having PMS.
It sounds as if the defense is either so frustrated with their lack of success on the cross-exams that they are compelled to torture everyone with dictionary definitions and repetition or else they think it’s somehow their job to keep every witness on the stand for a certain amount of time, whether it’s productive or not.
Really, how can it be a good thing when so many in the courtroom are rolling their eyes or putting their heads in their hands?

I just don’t know though.I’ve heard it said that it contained the capsule form of chlorine. For that large of amount it doesn’t make much sense Drew having that much in the first place. A 55 gal drum of water weighs over 500lbs. Tablets would weigh even more I’d imagine. Anyway, I need to do some more research to see if any places even sell that much.So far it looks like they sell it in 5 gal buckets for the average pool owner.
Wasn’t trying to be macabre. My first reaction to the question about her menstrual cycle, was, as you saw, flippant and irreverent. Then I suddenly realized what the opposite reason for the questions could be, especially since Drew was already accusing Stacy of being unfaithful. Seems like a serious, logical, feminine follow up. Does that help?

And now that she has left Drew, all symptoms are gone and she is happily living with another man somewhere?

I don’t know myself — but it doesn’t seem likely that people would accept this as a possibility.

I just wanted to make sure I answered the person with the barrel question more accurately than just guessing.It could of been an open head drum in which the definition is :An open head drum is one where the entire top of the drum is removable. It may then be replaced using the metal band that comes with the drum. If you need to mix in a drum, you will want to use the open head variety. Open head drums are available in 15, 30 and 55-gallon sizes. I guess we will just have to wait and see if this barrel seller comes forward to know if it had chlorine in it when he sold it.if it was in tablet form it would make sense for the open head model.The closed head model comes with 2 holes on top to put a pump in it to pump out liquid.

Pharmacist neighbor, Jacqueline Torrez (and her husband), left house at 6:34pm to walk dog. She remembers the time because she looked at the cable box and that’s what the displayed time was.
She testified that there was a car parked on a street called Apple Valley, an odd place for someone to just park/leave a car. She said a man was walking towards them. He had dark clothing. He had on a hooded sweatshirt, hood up, and she said he looked to her as to be walking without purpose. In other words, in that neighborhood, people are walking/strolling, pushing babies, walking dogs. He was not; he crossed the street to avoid them, and he looked back over his left shoulder at them a few times. She could not see his hair, but his mustache was gray, he had bags under eyes (although she used a medical term), a broad nose, and creases in facial features. She testified, prior to recently becoming a pharmacist, she was a graphic artist. She sketched renderings of faces, and some of her early (high school) work was shown and put into exhibits. She said, as a pharmacist, she studies peoples faces, because she likes to know the patients when they drop off prescriptions, when they pick them up. She pays attention to details of people’s features.
Cable company employee/neighbor and wife were walking their dog between 6:00 & 7:00pm. If he was more precise in that time, I don’t recall. He also describes encountering a suspicious “gentleman,” hood up, sweatshirt, dark colored. He also described a vehicle parked in the same area, purple/metallic/glittery color, GM make. He said Chevy, Buick, something like that, but definitely GM. The fact that he was wishy-washy on the make, and named Chevy, Buick, was called out, but he made himself clear that he referred to it as definitely a GM model, as opposed to Toyota, Ford, and said GM makes similar models.
Band mother testified that she picked up Tom for band concert between 3:20-3:25. She said she stayed in the car and her daughter went up to the door to get Tom. Drew answered. She said she could see he was wearing a dark sweatshirt. Called it Old Navy Sweatshirt. Dropped Tom off between 7:15-7:30. She said there were two vehicles in the driveway during her testimony, an SUV and car. But, the defense was able to get her to become confused by asking her, if she told the ISP there was only one vehicle in the driveway, would that be incorrect. Her answer, finally, I believe, was that what she told the ISP at the time would be what she saw. She said Drew was puttering in the garage, and there was discussion as to what puttering meant. I think, finally, it was determined that he was in the garage. Who the hell knows what he was doing, LOL.
Since she does so many pick-ups, drop-offs of teens, she was asked how many times a day/week she does this type of thing. After it was narrowed down, she was asked why this day was more special than any other day, being that she could recall these details. She said that little Lacy was playing in the driveway, and she took notice of her, being she was “cute” or something similar to that. I guess that was what then caused her to notice Drew in the garage. Tom didn’t mention anything unusual about the day during the time they were together regarding the band concert.
The name of one of the neighbors who said they saw someone who looked like Drew walking through the neighborhood is Jaqueline Torres.

Yes, Jacqueline Torres. And, I wrote this down in my notes, she said she is “100% confident” as to what, or who, I guess I should say, she saw.
Yes, Bruze Zidarich testified that Drew had arrived at his location, work, I believe, after Stacy had left 15 minutes or so prior. Peterson asked him if he had a computer he could use. Apparently, he got on that computer and was able to track Stacy via a GPS program somehow.
So I guess it’s always possible that Drew could have taken the three younger kids to McDonald’s, and left them there with Kris in charge for a short time while he moved Stacy’s car to..what…make it look as if she wasn’t home? I can’t wait until the actual trial when the prosecution can build its actual case.
And on a subjective note, I think we all know our own neighborhoods to the point that when you see someone who looks out-of-place you do take note. You may not immediately call the cops…but you make a mental note of it in case you hear something later. You don’t need to be a Mrs Kravitz to notice when someone walking down your street looks suspicious or out-of-place.
Perhaps there’s absolutely no purpose in the Defenses line of questioning re Stacys menstrual cycle, the emphasis on the word gentleman or describing a color to the ninth degree as where could that type of questioning possibly lead to ???
In what way can it possibly be significant to this case for Stacy having discussed her menstrual cycle with her neighbor, if ever she did so at all ?
The only one obsessed with that subject is her husband and of major significance to him, but that doesn’t make it relevant to anything.
It just shows an unhealthy obsession with anything female or sexual on his part which the Defense is bringing into their line of questioning to discredit witnesses with !!

Witness recounts last hours before Stacy Peterson’s disappearance

The last person known to have spoken with Stacy Peterson before her 2007 disappearance testified Monday that she was so desperate to leave her husband that she considered sleeping with someone else “so he wouldn’t love her anymore.”
Bruce Zidarich, 45, of Downers Grove, said he and Stacy had grown closer in the weeks before she vanished because they both were having relationship problems — he with Stacy’s sister Cassandra Cales and she with Drew Peterson, then a Bolingbrook police sergeant.
“She said she didn’t want anything — she wanted out,” Zidarich said. But Stacy told him Peterson, who had been tracking her whereabouts with a GPS system on her cell phone, wasn’t about to let her go, telling her that even if she slept with someone else in front of him he would still love her.
Monday was the fourth day of a pre-trial hearing on whether certain hearsay statements will be heard in the trial of Peterson, who is charged in the 2004 drowning death of third wife Kathleen Savio. As expected, much of the testimony so far has been about Stacy’s disappearance. Prosecutors are trying to convince a judge that Peterson caused Savio’s death or Stacy’s disappearance in order to have hearsay admitted under a new state law.
Zidarich said he was increasingly worried about Stacy’s safety. He recalled a July 2007 incident when Peterson came to his Yorkville home looking for Stacy, who had left 10 to 20 minutes earlier. Peterson asked to see a computer, and Zidarich said he took him to his home office.
“He showed us how he had all the phones on GPS,” Zidarich said. Peterson showed him where Stacy was on the map.
On Oct. 27, the day before Stacy vanished, Zidarich talked to Stacy about her increasing desperation to leave Peterson. They exchanged a series of text messages just after midnight, where Zidarich suggested they meet for coffee. Stacy asked if they could “go to breakfast in the morning w/my babies instead” because it had been a long day.
But the planned meeting on Oct. 28 never happened. Instead, Zidarich spoke to Stacy by phone later that morning about helping him repaint the inside of his Yorkville rental home.
Stacy never responded to his 4:30 p.m. text message — “Whatcha doin 2marrow?” and within a few hours Stacy’s family and friends were frantically searching for her.
Zidarich said he and Cales drove past the Petersons’ home, spotting both of their cars in the driveway — and when he called Peterson about 2:25 a.m. Drew Peterson told him that Stacy had taken $25,000 and gone to Jamaica with her boyfriend.
Sharon Bychowski, Stacy’s friend and next-door-neighbor, broke down Monday and had to be helped from the witness stand as she recounted seeing Stacy sobbing in the parkway outside her home shortly before her disappearance.
“Drew won’t go — he won’t leave,” Stacy said, according to Bychowski, showing her 10 boxes of his stuff she’d packed in their garage.
“If I disappear, Sharon, it’s not an accident — he killed me,” said Bychowski, crying and holding her hand to her chest.
When she urged Stacy to write down what was happening, Stacy told her: “I’m already dead,” Bychowski said. “He’s going to kill me.”
In 2006 and 2007 before she disappeared, Stacy got a tummy tuck, liposuction and breast implants.
“She told me that’s what Drew wanted,” Bychowski said.
But if Stacy had hoped it would improve things at home, friends said it didn’t work. In the days before she disappeared, Stacy showed Bychowski a ring that Peterson recently had given her and commented: “He thinks it’s going to keep me. No way.”
Stacy also showed Bychowski a hole in the garage ceiling she said was made when Drew fired a gun through the bedroom floor.
Prosecutors on Monday also called three Bolingbrook residents who testified they saw Peterson on Oct. 28. One woman who saw him walking away from a car parked about a mile from Peterson’s home around 6:30 p.m. said Peterson seemed extremely suspicious, testifying that she later told her daughter, “It was as if he had killed somebody.”
One of Peterson’s defense attorneys questioned Bychowski about her numerous television appearances and whether she had enjoyed or stood to profit from them.
“There’s nothing in this two and a half years that makes me feel special, sir — it makes me feel sick,” she said.

Interesting about the car being parked on Apple Valley Rd.Describes it close to the appearance of Stacy’s car. Maybe it was parked there instead of Clow airport as he led everyone to believe. A lot closer for his fat lazy arse to walk anyway lol. Was Drew walking near it I wonder when the neighbor spotted him? He(the neighbor) does seem to have a good eye for detail if he noticed each in different places. The car on Apple Valley and Drew the baggy eyed creep maybe walking down his street. Your right JAH. The baggy eyes are a dead giveaway lol.

Even from these first few days of information coming out, Drew has already proven one thing beyond any reasonable doubt:
He was never where he said he was and he was always where he said he wasn’t.
He even proved his own time line wrong – LOL !!
As someone here has mentioned it before, I am apt to think Drew left the children at McDonalds and went home to put Stacy into the barrel.
If we only finally knew, when Drew took Stacy’s car away from his house!
