Ahead of the rerun gubernatorial election to be conducted by INEC at a date to be announced, Bauchi State chapter of the ruling  All Progressive Congress (APC) has charged the electorate in the state to turn out en masse to participate in the supplementary election that would take place in Tafawa Balewa local government and 184 other polling units in 15 affected local governments areas of the state.
The charge was made by the Deputy Director of Bauchi State APC Campaign Council, Alhaji Aminu Mohammed Danmaliki while reacting to the cancellation of the results in the affected areas during a press conference held at the party’s campaign office in Bauchi on Tuesday.
He said that he was hopeful that the deciding election would be positive to the party’s side having won the majority of the State House of Assembly elections on the 9th March elections.
He stated that “We once again called on the electorate to remain committed, resolute and supportive to APC as the party of the moment not to think of retarding the wheel of progress by retreating to the old crew that many of the states are now struggling to move out of to the next level family”.
Aminu Mohammed used the medium to deny the allegation by the state chapter of the PDP that Governor Mohammed Abdullahi Abubakar ordered thugs to disrupt the collection of the result in Tafawa Balewa local government which led to its cancellation.
“The APC hold no malice against anyone and respect opinion of electorate to make free choice but wish to add that the good citizens of Bauchi state especially electorate in the affected areas of cancellation should see reason to support APC in order to keep Bauchi state on the mainstream of Nigerian politics as we are ushering in into the next level journey under President Muhammadu Buhari during which a lot of transformational programs are expected to be bankrolled immediately”, he appealed.
The Deputy Director General of the Campaign Council further said that the APC is not ready to engage in politics of religion and ethnic division because according to him the country has outgrown such calling on politicians to desist from using ethno-religious sentiments to heat up the polity.
“If you look at the results so far declared you will see that the APC and its gubernatorial candidate, Governor Abubakar won substantial amounts of votes across the state. We are not afraid of the rerun because we are confident that it will be in our favour”.
