Tips for getting a Massage at Home

Today more and more people are resorting to the convenience of getting their massage appointment at home, rather than having to make their way, at an inconvenient time, to the spa. It is a no brainer and saves on a lot of the added stress (parking, traffic, leaving shortly after). But what if you’ve never received a massage at the comfort of your own home? Well here are some tips which will guarantee the best possible experience.

Tip 1 – Make sure you are healthy. If you have a runny nose, cough, or feel that something is coming, postpone your appointment for a better time. Not only is this basic consideration to the therapist but also, the experience will not be beneficial for you: when your body is already fighting off a virus due to a cold or flu, a massage can actually make things worse.

Tip 2 – Take some time out before and after your massage to relax. If you are rushing and stressed when your Masu arrives, it will take longer to get into a relaxed state. Don’t plan anything! The relaxing effects of the massage will continue to work best if you don’t do anything.

Tip 3 – Have a nice warm bath or shower before the treatment. This is a great way to start relaxing your muscles not to mention
common courtesy, making the whole experience better for everyone.

Tip 4 – Do not eat just before and after your massage and drink plenty of water afterwards, this will help detoxify your body and help the massage work to its fullest potential.

Tip 5 – Be honest with your Masu. Let them know exactly what it is you would like in your massage and the type of pressure you would like. If something doesn’t feel right during the treatment speak up.

Enjoy and let us know how it went.
