Unleash Your Laptop

You just bought/got a laptop with just Intel HD Graphics and you consider yourself to be the most unluckiest person on earth? You are so wrong. It can run many older games at decent framerates and resolution. Said that, it’s possible only if you don’t mind lowering the graphics settings.

I have managed to run GTA V, Call Of Duty Advanced Warfare, Far Cry 4 and Call Of Duty Black Ops 3 at lowest settings possible on Intel HD 4400. While the games were playable at 25-30 FPS, the graphics looked dated. I had to lower the resolution to 1024×768. But my point is, you can definitely run older games at much better graphics.

If you have a Intel HD 4000/4400 avoid high graphic games released after 2014 except for GTA V.

* You need to have 8GB of RAM and i5/i7 Processor to play these games.

# These games run only on Intel HD 530, HD 620, HD 630 paired with i5/i7 processor for laptop and i3/i5/i7 for desktop and 8GB RAM.

¹ You need to fix GTA IV to run it on Intel HD graphics as it detects only 256MB of VRAM. You can google for “GTA IV low VRAM fix”.

² You will have to use Ragnos1997 low graphics fix for Hitman Absolution. This will allow you to run games at lower resolution and graphics. You need either HD 5500/520 paired with i5 or i7.

Note:

1. All games released before 2016 were tested on Intel HD 4400/4600 which is similar to Intel HD 4000, Intel HD 5500, Intel HD 520, Intel HD 530, Intel HD 620.

Games released after 2016 were tested on the newer Intel HD 520 paired with i5/i7 Processor. There is a very small chance that these games will work on older generation Intel HD Graphics. However will work fine on Intel HD 620.

2. The Intel HD 5500 and HD 520 are 20-30% more powerful then Intel HD 4400 hence you might be able to get higher framerates at higher resolution then what i have got. For example Mad Max runs on Intel HD 520 at 1366×768 at lowest settings while on Intel HD 4400 it was unplayable. Also GTA V runs at 1600×900 on Intel HD 520.

3. Games released after 2010 that run absolutely flawless at min 1600×900 resolution on Intel are:

Update 15/06/16:

1. I have noticed that some games (very rarely) which work fine on say Intel HD 4400 seemed to give graphics glitches on Intel HD 520. Sometimes it was other way around. So, it depends entirely on which Intel HD Graphics you have. It’s not possible for me to create 5 different lists for 5 different kind of Intel HD graphics. I suggest you Google about the games compatibility or ask others on forums before purchasing the game just to be on safer side.
