As far as Cedar Point Bar and Kitchen goes, I haven’t been able to find a better chicken and waffles in Philadelphia. But, while I do change up my entre choice from time to time, one thing remains constant whenever my wife and I go: we always, always, get the veggie wings. And while the regular chicken wings are the same dish—same sauce, same accoutrement—there is something so much more satisfying about the veggie version.
The dish is served in a heaping bowl of fried Brussels sprouts mixed in with the crispy hunks of seitan. The “wings” are sitting in a spicy, tangy hot sauce that isn’t too spicy but will make you cough a little if you’re not prepared for the intensity of it. And if the sauce is too much for you, there’s an additional side of apricot horseradish cream to cool everything off and bring it all together.
The tang of the sauce might be too much on its own, but mixed with the sprouts and the slightly-sweet cream, everything comes together to perfectly satisfy anyone looking for wings, whether they are vegetarian, vegan, or full-on meat-eaters. Trust me—I have no problem devouring piles of pork at any given chance, but these veggie wings are always a staple and never cease to have me saying “Hail Seitan!”
