Lee Hong-ki and Baek Jin-hee in Warm Goodbye

Here’s a look at the new feel-good comedy starring Lee Hong-ki (You’re Beautiful) in his feature film debut. The movie is called Warm Goodbye, and stars Hong-ki as a troublemaker idol who gets sent to do community service at a hospice center to repair his public image, very much against his will. It’s not a movie I’d watch for the actors alone, but the premise has ‘cute little heartwarming story’ written all over it.

The trailer starts out with a very contrite speech as the scandal-monger idol arrives at the hospital in the countryside, but that attitude lasts about as long as the cameras are rolling, and then it’s horror that the Big Star has to do actual menial labor. Baek Jin-hee (Jeon Woo-chi) stars as his no-nonsense boss, who must be used to bratty stars making the rounds for PR, because she’s prickly from the moment he arrives and doesn’t give an inch.

The hospice center is filled with quirky characters, from an ex-gangster with a brain tumor who threatens the idol for extra sausages in the lunch line and cigarettes on the sly (Ma Dong-seok), a liver cancer patient who moonlights at a nightclub, and a little girl with leukemia who spends her day spying on everyone.

What he discovers though is that the hospital is really a place where people prepare to die, and as he learns to let those people in, he grows up in the process. Throw in a little romance, a save-the-hospital concert, and you’ve got a movie — nothing groundbreaking or new, but probably really sweet and satisfying all the same.

Warm Goodbye hits theaters May 30.

Just love that 2nd BTS pic, I swear it has Jeremy written on it. (If only he was the one cast at TTBY over Lee Hyeon-woo, I'd still love it since Ikuta + Hyeon-woo + Jeremy = PERFECTION Nakatsu. XD)

But Lee Hyun Woo was so adorable as Cha Eun Gyul! He was the best thing about that drama, too.

Even though I am old enough to be the mother of all the members, I actually really like Ft Island (you should see me bopping to their cds in the car-surprising my daughters' friends!) and thought Lee Hong Ki did a credible job in Noriko Goes to Seoul, but I would watch this for Ma Dong-Seouk. I love him in everything even if I don't like the project. I will be on the look out for this. Hopefully, there will be some Hong Ki fan girls that sub it soon. I could go for a good cry with some warm heartfelt uplift at the end.

And the little girl looks hilarious. What a great "stank face"!

Nice to know there's another ahjumma fan (eemo fan?) out there! Loved Hongki in You're Beautiful but I started listening to FTIsland because of this brillllliant post by javabeans:

My favorite part of Noriko was when he was giving a singing lesson to ahjumma with an FTIsland song. Too.cute.

You're Beautiful was the first korean drama I watched and the main reason for it was HongGi. Just loved his overly cute character so much I always just had to go to the next episode...

Hope the movie will be good <3

Ah the premise definitely sounds like this movie will be fun to watch~ The characters seem like a fu bunch. But at the same time it sounds so sad. I mean, it's set in a hospital. With people who are 'preparing to die'. I'll be sure to stock up on tissues before this movie comes out.

Looks really nice :0 Buuut "troublemaker idol who gets sent to do community service" or "save-the-hospital concert" and other cliches... They don't look far for new ideas, do they?

Wait isn't that the guy from the Man Ramen commercial?

Looks like a feel good movie. Hospice isn't easy. I know that. So I hope they do as much as they can realistically.

I loved him in YAB and her in High Kick 3, so this might actually be worth watching even if the plot sounds recycled.

So, basically, Hong Ki plays Yoo Hye Si at first, then gets a personality makeover? :)

It sounds cute and touching; I'll give it a chance. Hospice is pretty deep stuff, though, so I hope they handle that well.

I love Baek Jin Hee. Thats why I started watching I summon you, gold because of her and surprisingly, she has a great chemistry with her partner in the drama. I like her playing demure role. I hope to see her playing a leading lady role in a drama soon.
