Drama viewership ratings for the week of April 20-26, 2020
by SailorJumun
Right off the bat, we have some new dramas — Born Again and When My Love Blooms. Born Again didn’t start off too strongly and immediately lost a good chunk of viewers the next day. On the other hand, When My Love Blooms came in hot with 5.4 percent.
Of course, with new dramas, we have to say goodbye to some of the old. Monday-Tuesday dramas Nobody Knows and I’ll Find You on a Beautiful Day both finished with decent numbers, the former reaching a personal best of 11.4 percent. A Piece of Your Mind will be finishing its 12-episode run (formerly 16) next week.
Hospital Playlist is still doin’ its thing, beating its personal record every week, as is the hit drama A Couple’s World. In fact, A Couple’s World’s ratings are, most likely, a week away from beating SKY Castle’s (I’m calling it!). And then there’s The King, whose ratings took a bit of a dip. Not a good sign for a drama of this caliber.

Nobody Knows and IFYOABD were both great dramas, and I'm going to miss them.
The ratings of the latter really don't reflect how good this drama was. But I'm glad the reception for Nobody Knows was better, even though not many beanies watched it (shout-out to the recap crew). I'm also personally looking forward to Kim Seohyung's next project, and so happy to see her career gain momentum as of recent.
Still working on catching up on A Couple's World, and the meteoric ratings sure act as great motivation. If only the episodes weren't that long! Like seriously, 90 min is too much.
Going to check out When My Love Blooms and hopefully this will be my next healing drama. I love the LBY & YJT pairing, and after her performance in Boyfriend/Encounter, I wanted to see more of Jeon So-nee.

I only watched the first episode of Nobody knows because I was watching so many dramas at at time, I just couldn't cope with them all, but I'm planning on watching it now.
I will also give a try to When my love blooms. I'm watching nothing on weekends.

No joke, I LITERALLY just realized Couple’s World Episodes are over an hour. How is that possible?!!! I even rewind scene to rewatch to connect things together, so much happens in every episode and I’m just clutching my chest the whole time.

Same same! I think I take like 2h to watch one episode. Which is why I haven't been advancing that quickly

I agree on the running time of Couple's World. Love the show but it is really hard going - can only watch one episode at a time because it can be a bit too much. It is fantastic though- just tough subject matter

That might be true but public reception to the drama has been very mixed so the ratings aren’t surprising. I can see ratings go back up if the drama gets better.

Hopefully it'll increase when "Couple's World" is done. The viewers are not going to jump ship in the middle of it.

There's only a 10 min overlap with "The King" and "Couple's World" so Couple's world ending is not going to much difference unless TK's plot improves. But, Three Meals a Day premiers this Friday at same time slot and may take away some viewers.

IIRC TK runs for 70 mins per episode so it’s 20 mins.
I know it may not make much of a difference unless it improves but we never know.
3MaD is not going to start anywhere near CW’s current ratings.
I’m not a KSE fan girl. I have been rooting for CW since it’s debut but It’ll be nice to have some kind of competition.

@Kiara, I don't mean 3 Meals will achieve CW's type of ratings, but it will be direct competition for viewers with TK since both will air at the same time, whereas with CW's there's only a slight overlap.

If that is the case then it should have happened with Mr. Sunshine as well. It was also broadcasted simultaneously at the same time slot .But ig Sunshine ratings are even higher than The King, despite it being aired in Cable. SK was tech savvyy even in 2018 when Mr Sunshine was aired and people must have watched it in Netflix as well. So I don't think it makes a big difference.

Mr sunshine is airing in cable channel and Netflix and it had high ratings. Why? because the drama is interesting from the beginning til the last episode. Cinematography, Story and script are great. The King is airing in their Local channel and Netflix but the ratings are not what people expected consider how hype the drama is before it airs. Why? Transition and story is all over the place. There's no chemistry at all. Feels like I'm watching the second The Heirs. Hopefully it will pick up next week.

KBS doesn't make any effort to choose good dramas. They know the week-end dramas will have good ratings.
I'm sad for One Piece of Your Mind. This drama is really good and cutting it of 4 episodes was unfair. Two why not but 4 it's too much >_<
Korean really love dramas with excessive characters like in The Last Empress or now A Couple's World.

a (very) decent rating for When My Love Blooms, yeay! I’ve watched the first ep (subbed) and 2nd ep (raw), and has come to like the show a lot! aside from Yoo Ji Tae and Lee Bo Young whom I like, I noticed how the dialogue is showing a relatable mindset and situation of those in their 40s, such as the scene of yoo ji tae with his female college mate who come for borrowing money, I would say that what would happen in real life, and the way Lee Bo Young’s best friend responded that she is a pacifist when LBY asked her on her opinion about protesters, I felt that the script is decent enough to make me stick with this show aside from the pretty (yoo ji tae, i miss him already after live watching Different Dreams, soo happy that he’ll “accompany” me on this quarantined time, kekeke..).
Also, another fave of mine that is rising on rating, Hospital Playlist, yo fighting fab5!
Thankss so much cast and crew that continued to produced drama and show during this challenging time, please stay safe and healthy, just want you all know that many appreciate your hard work, kamshamida!

Goodbye to Nobody Knows and IFYOABD. This has been a really great drama season for me.
How high will A Couple's World go, I wonder.
Not surprised that the ratings for The King went down.
Good start for When My Love Blooms though I don't think it will be my cup of tea.

The King : Though I'm a bit disappointed with this week's episode and I'm still confused on various factors, I'm sticking to it due to Lee Min Ho Uppa. The acting if both the leads are awesome as individually, but together we are still missing that spark. I was amazed to see Woo Do-Hwan pulling both the roles so seamlessly. It was fantastic to see that he played both North and South character with so much ease. Though my favorite willl be the knight in the shining armor Jo Young.
I'm definitely looking forward to when my love blooms because I really like both the leads and the way of telling the story also seems novel this time.

Only watch FMIYM and TWOTM but gonna drop the latter and pick up TK soon. The ratings for FMIYM should be higher, it's a really good drama! This drama make me stan KDW so much, even if I know him for quite some time already.

I only watched 1 episode of The King so far and saw some clips on IG...I don't feel much chemistry either...hope it picks up in that department. It for sure does not give me the same feels I got with Goblin or Mr. Sunshine. Why? LMH is good but not as good as Gong Yoo or Lee Byung-hun. LMH in this drama reminds me of his character in The Heirs...and I don't think that is a good thing. I have to watch the rest of the episodes that are out...hope my opinion will improve after watching those.

I watched all 4 episodes. It was tedious and bland.
The script is boring, dialogues dead. LMH's acting deserves the all criticisms, and Kim Go Eun overacts. It's disappointing to see it.
