First look at First, Clean Passionately’s Kim Yoo-jung

Man, I feel like it’s been forever since we’ve gotten any updates about this drama! JTBC is gearing up for its last Monday-Tuesday drama of the year (eek, where did 2018 go?), First, Clean Passionately, and the station has just released a couple stills for a quick peek into what we can expect. Namely, we get our first look at our main heroine, Kim Yoo-jung, who is making her drama comeback after 2016’s massive hit Moonlight Drawn By Clouds.

Kim Yoo-jung’s character, Gil Oh-sol, represents one of the many young job-seekers in today’s South Korea, having done every kind of part-time position under the sun and desperate to be gainfully employed in a full-time job. Her job search has taken over her whole life, to the point where she’s given up on not only love, but cleanliness as well. I sincerely hope for her sake that cleanliness doesn’t equate to sanitation, because hygiene should never be optional!

Her attitude towards cleanliness is sure to clash with her new boss, Jang Sun-gyul, who will be played by Yoon Kyun-sang (Mysterious Il-seung). He considers cleanliness to be more important than anything in life, which explains why he’s the CEO of a cleaning company. I haven’t read the webtoon, but these dynamics look ripe for a lot of cute bickering, which I’m looking forward to.

First, Clean Passionately has a pretty impressive lineup aside from our main leads, including Song Jae-rim (Secret Mother), Yoo Sun (Criminal Minds), Kim Won-hae (Player), and Do-hee (My ID is Gangnam Beauty). Directing is PD Noh Jong-chan, who has largely done sageuks like Empress In-soo and Kim Su-ro, while writer Han Hee-jung, who co-wrote Joseon Gunman, will be adapting the webtoon into the drama format.

First, Clean Passionately is scheduled to premiere on JTBC’s Monday-Tuesday slot on November 26th, following currently airing Beauty Inside.

Kim Wonhae has to be a clone. When this one starts, he's going to be in FOUR airing dramas at once.

I wasn't sure how I felt about Yoon Kyunsang for this one, but I saw some screenshots from filming and he looks good. He doesn't look like the cat ahjusshi that he really is. Looking forward to it!

Do you have the link to the screenshots? I've been looking, but I can't find them. Thank you ;3

When I saw Kim Won-hae was cast, I had to do a double take and search him up again to make sure. That guy's insane. He better be paid well.

I read some of the comments on that post, and it turns out the Kyun-sang shots aren't even him from the drama hahahah 😁 It's from his CF for a bank. Seeing him in a suit is always welcome though!

Thanks, @blnmom! Yoon Kyun-sang looks very spiffy in non-Joseon-peasant garb. ;-)

Hats off to @veeee at Drama Milk blog for her report! ;-)

LOL at Kim Won-hae's clones! You're so right, @blnmom. I'm currently watching him portray a prosecutor in THE PLAYER. But before that, I saw him in ARE YOU HUMAN TOO and BLACK, and the first 5-6 eps. of CRIMINAL MINDS. The serial killer he played was too much for me and I bailed on Lee Joon-gi (something I never thought I'd ever do) because the gore factor was too distressing. I loved his turn in CHIEF KIM, which I may have watched around the time of CRIMINAL MINDS as a palate cleanser. His gireogi appa [goose father] bromance with Namgoong Min was heartwarming and hilarious.

KWH also has two movies being released in 2018.

He's one of my fave ahjussis. What a superb character actor. Hwaiting!

Kim Wonhae is like Song Dong Il(even if i think this one toned it down in meantime),i swear i almost see him in every drama jajja not that is a bad thing at all as he looks in high demand.As long as he is healthy and well it's all good...The man is amazing between,to juggle so many diffrent characters switching them and memorzing it so fast

Yes, he was supposed to play the character that Kyun-sang is going to play. I'm not sure why he dropped out though.

They postponed filming to let Kim Yoojung get well, thankfully. But that messed with Ahn Hyoseop's schedule and he filmed 30 But 17 instead, which turned out to be a good move for him.

I'm the biggest fan of Yoon Kyun-sang after his performance in Rebel, so I'll watch anything with him. I hope this drama doesn't disappoint. Also Yoo-jung has matured into such a beautiful young woman!

Happy to say that I converted a hard-core, "I only watch Brazilian telenovelas" family member to Korean dramas thanks to Rebel ... :)

@lolita,

What a wonderful testimonial to a fine actor. Manseh!

Have you done your relative another big favor and introduced them to THREE MEALS A DAY? YKS brought his two photogenic kitty cats with him, while Eric of Shinhwa cooked up a storm under the watchful eye of Lee Seo-jin. I found it peculiarly relaxing to watch Eric at work. And I learned a lot of neat cooking tricks from him, too. I don't even like seafood, but it was still fun to watch the preparation. And YKS turned out to have a knack for angling. Who woulda thunk it?! ;-)

Three Meals a Day: Fishing Village 3 (2016) and Three Meals a Day: Seaside Ranch (2017).

I find myself always going back and rewatching Rebel when I'm in a drama slump. It has its flaws, but it was still a wonderfully told story of heroism. I was ready to dedicate myself to Kyun-sang after Six Flying Dragons, but Rebel really sold me on him.
I'm going to mention Rebel as much as possible from now on!!

@keiru, @sukstan sukbaenim,

I couldn't agree with you more. REBEL is a wonderful tale with a terrific cast. If you haven't already seen THE KING'S DAUGHTER, SOO BAEK HYANG, you should give it a try. It's by the same writer, and is excellent. It's a daily drama, so the episodes are only about half an hour. The characters are every bit as memorable as those in REBEL, even the "minor" ones. ;-)

YKS caught my eye in FAITH, but since I used to watch only sageuks, it was a while before I watched him in contemporary productions. He was great in SIX FLYING DRAGONS, but REBEL is his best role to date, IMHO. ;-)

Kim Yoo Jung looks radiantly pretty and not at all "untidy". 😊

@jillian,

Nope, it's not weird. I'm a Kim Won-hae fangirl, too. He's a great character actor. In an industry fixated on youth, I appreciate actors and actresses closer to my own vintage as well as the ones young enough to be my kids or grandkids. Thankfully there have been a few more dramas featuring mature and even elderly leads. It's high time. And Kim Won-hae is one of my faves. ;-)

Finally, an article about Clean with Passion for Now in DB 😄

I was having a party at APAN star award last night, so much cuteness~ 😆 I'm glad Kim Yoo Jung and Yoon Kyun Sang got positive response from the media and netizen. I hope it will continue when the drama starts airing

Fighting pretty Yoo Jungie~ 💕

Shallow me is really excited about how the PD will play with the height difference between the leads... I remember how Yoon Kyun Sang towered over Chae Soo Bin in Rebel, and it was both hilarious and cute.
Of course, I suppose Kim Yoo Jung will wear heels, since this is a modern drama... but still... heheh.

@wishfultoki,

Kim Yoo-jung may have to cut to the chase and ride around on a Segway, which would be more maneuverable than a scissor lift. I guess there's always stilts. Or excessive platform soles. Geez, I'm having glam rock flashbacks. LOL!

Part 1 of 2

Thank you for this great news, @tipsymocha!! Even though I am a total slob in real life, I've been itching to see Yoon Kyun-sang's next vehicle after DOUBTFUL VICTORY, which was kind of a letdown after his memorable turn in REBEL: THIEF WHO STOLE THE PEOPLE. Here's hoping that it's up to snuff.

I've had it in the back of my mind that CLEAN WITH PASSION FOR NOW was supposed to be starting soon. I'm glad it won't start until November 26 @2130 after THE BEAUTIFUL YOU winds up. But that just premiered. Whew!

http://asianwiki.com/Clean_With_Passion_For_Now

Kim Yoo-jung may end up spending much of her time on a step ladder if she has to look the boss in the eye. On the other hand, he probably doesn't need one when replacing light bulbs. LOL! As soon as I saw her character's name, Gil Oh-sol, all I could think of was the American cleaning product, Pine-sol. LOL! Please don't hate me. ;-)

*lights beacon on Namsan and sends carrier pigeon to IT Goddess @mary with coded message "림재송"*

Clear your deck, Sis! Oppa's back! Navy sweepers, man your brooms! Hwaiting!

*peers around furtively for the pretender, who knows who she is*

After seeing the supporting cast, I can't help but wonder if Ahn Suk-hwan will be accompanied by his titled self-propelled Pekingese dust mop from 100 DAYS MY PRINCE. I'm sure that that elongated fluffball would give Nam Shin III's little Roomba Chingu a waddle for the money. Talk about a canine dustbuster. ;-)

While I'm sorry that CLEAN PASSIONATELY has been delayed because of Kim Yoo-jung's health issues, I'm glad that Ahn Hyo-seop dropped out in favor of THIRTY BUT SEVENTEEN. I cannot imagine anyone but him in the role of Mr. Gong's lovable, gangling nephew Chan the Rower. He and Yang Se-jong were so bromantically terrific, along with his posse of teammates, that for me half -- or more -- of the reason for tuning in would simply not have existed.

Part 2 of 2

As for Kim Yoo-jung, I'm so glad that she is feeling better enough to get back to work. I loved her in MOONLIGHT DRAWN BY CLOUDS, in which Park Bo-gum and just about everyone else towered over her. Hwaiting, KYJ!

For Beanies unfamiliar with hypothyroidism, aka "underactive thyroid," it is one of those conditions that can creep up on you without your knowing. I was diagnosed when I was about the same age as the actress. I had a case of mononucleosis and was so tired I could barely wake up, drag myself through the day at my summer job in a lab during college -- despite guzzling coffee on my breaks -- , and get through dinner without faceplanting into the mashed potatoes. I had a walking case of mono, and felt dog-tired all the time. I existed in zombie mode. Our new family doctor, who happened to be an endocrinologist, took one look at me and informed me that I had a small goitre (swelling of the neck/thyroid), which shocked the heck out of me. My thyroid was enlarged, probably because of Hashimoto's thyroiditis, an autoimmune condition. (Iodine deficiency causes 90% of goitres worldwide, particularly in areas where farmland has been glaciated [known as the "goitre belt" encompassing the Great Lakes, Midwest and plains states in the USA], which leached away the element.) But it could also have involved a genetic mutation causing a biochemical inability to convert T4 to T3. Who knew about such things back then?

The thyroid and its hormones are involved in the functioning of virtually every cell in the body, and there's a feedback loop with the pituitary, the "master gland." When one's thyroid is out of whack, the whole body can be adversely affected, along with the mind.

This has been your DramaBeans thyroid health PSA. ;-)
