Snoop Dogg Barks At T.I.’s “Roots”: “I’m Sick Of This S**t” [Video]

West Coast rapper Snoop Dogg has voiced his frustrations and disinterest in supporting fellow hip-hop artist T.I.‘s new “Roots” television remake.

Snoop dished out his problem with movies and television shows like “Roots” focusing on historic black injustice on Instagram Monday (May 30).

T.I. recently defended the message behind his “Roots” series.

In a recent interview with Rolling Stone, T.I. said that works like Roots help embody the idea of historical justice. “The quest for truth should be a lifelong journey,” T.I. said. “From the time you’re born to the time you die, you’re supposed to be seeking knowledge and truth. This is a piece of it. This is a huge, huge chapter, so I think it’s incredibly important.” (Rolling Stone)

The rap veteran also recently revealed why he initially did not want to join the production.

“This was an opportunity that he presented to me, and of course initially he got a little bit of push back from me,” Tip said referring to producer Will Packer’s intent on having him join the show cast. “I will admit that I was one of the ones to say, ‘Man, I don’t know if that needs to be remade.’ It was just a huge undertaking for him as a producer and for me as an actor to sign up to remake such a classic and to tell a story that has so much pain and just so much turmoil involved in it.” (Huff Post)

  1. This is why they need to show movies and shows like Roots…big snoop fan but I’m not looking for snoop to uplift any black people…you may not need to see it snoop…but it’s a message that need not be forgotten. He doesn’t wanna talk about history but he wants to have movies about black accomplishments….there are plenty of movies about black accomplishments and he doesn’t play in any of…he was forced to watch it or sumthn? So what it was on memorial day…a Love & HipHop marathon would have set your memorial day off snoop lion?  Niggas is scared as hell of knowledge… He said how about a movie that shows black accomplishments… What black accomplishments is greater than that in Roots?

  2. Snoop is a clown operating in his feelings.  I get it, this is painful to watch but to dismiss our history and write it off to be forgotten and not retold is simply ignorant.  If a people don’t know where they came from, then how will they know where they can go?

    • Alex Haley Roots was all lies you have a better chance reading Iceberg Slim. They to make movies about Marcus Garvey

  3. Snoop telling the leave the past where the past is, if you want to educate yourself then read a book it’s plenty of books out there but playing a slave movie on Memorial day when families are enjoying one another and having fun, why should we want to be reminded of the horror our mothers and fathers went thru, wake up black people they keep reminding us that they own us and yall don’t even realize the true message behind this crap, like snoop said show some positive things a MLKmovie are a Malcolm Xbox movie, Jackie Robinson not us getting the shit beat out us and being called a nigga all thru the movie

  4. Maybe instead of reminding this generation of where they came from and where to go by showing more evil white people story’s. You should show the truth about the Atlantic slave trade and how European and African kings worked together and sold slaves. It’s all there in history to read up on. So remember your own people sold you for wealth in exchange. So blame your own people and stop feeding this white hate for blacks to the media. We’re all equal and every race has its trash.
