Former Ruff Ryders leader DMX is moving forward with his life amid widespread reports about being the gunman behind a robbery last weekend.

Dark Man X put a swift end to the rumors of robbing a 21-year-old for just over $3,000 when approached by a paparazzo this week.

“I have no idea what it’s about. It comes with the territory,” X explained. “It’s not the first thing I’ve been accused of that I didn’t do. If I did it, you’d have known about it, but I wouldn’t be able to travel as freely as I do, if I did it. My lawyer assured me there’s nothing to worry about. … We stopped at a gas station. I don’t recall any incident happening. I make way more than that during a show, so why would I want that kind of trouble for myself?” (TMZ)

This week, X’s lawyer said the robbery accusations came after a chance encounter at a New Jersey gas station.

Meanwhile, attorney Murray Richman calls the claim “completely absurd,” telling E! News today that “anyone who believes it makes no sense at all.” “He was leaving a show, a very successful show, and he stopped for gas,” Richman said. “Four young men approached him for a photo. They took photos and they offered [DMX] drugs. He said no and told them to go…They had an argument and next thing you know, they are accusing him of robbery. Just nonsense.” (E! Online)

According to reports, the robbery went down at a gas station on Easter Sunday (April 5).

The man, a 21-year-old Newark resident, told police that he encountered a man who he identified as the rapper at about 12:30 a.m. at an Exxon station on U.S. Highway 21 in Newark, according to the Newark Police Department. He told police he had a brief conversation with the DMX about rap music when suddenly a member of the rapper’s entourage allegedly flashed a gun and demanded cash. (NBC New York)

Reports claimed X snatched $3,200 and took off in an SUV.

The rapper then hopped in one of the four black Cadillac Escalades his entourage was riding in and disappeared. The victim got in his car and tried to chase after the convoy of SUVs and managed to jot down one of the vehicle’s license plates. (Page Six)
