filly ZOFFANY – QUEEN OF STARS (Richard Hannon)

Purchased for £95,000 as a yearling, from an unraced mare who had produced two winning foals.  One won at 5F and 6F, highest winning OR 69, and the other won in Japan at 6F.

Made her debut in a Class 3 fillies Conditions Stakes at Salisbury.  According to the market, she was the second string for Richard Hannon (GREAT PAGE being sent off at 1/3 favourite). Despite being behind early on (traded at a high of 38 in the run), she ran right down the centre of the course to take it up just over 1F out and ran on impressively to beat her stablemate by 2¾ lengths at a price of 8/1.  Her win provided first season sire, Zoffany, with his first winner in Britain.
