To sit and wait for something to happen… this vigilance… the readiness…

I think I saw once, on this screen or another, someone digging in towards the wait. Camouflaging himself, blending with the surroundings. Anticipating the target's arrival.

I read about the breathing adjustment. About the awareness that the body is a mass of quivers – blood is drawn and shoved by a pump, constantly vibrating. About deep breathing and relaxing. About the moment between one heart beat and the next. Between breaths.

The ambush always seemed uncomfortable. Lying there for hours, in the same position. No movement. Keeping properly vigilant.

Surprisingly I'm actually very comfortable waiting for the call, only the impatience is hard. Come on already… And seemingly to spite, the target refuses to show. Playing hid and seek. Who will win and who will come out defeated seems the question.

The answer seems a win-win situation: the little one didn't even get spooked while in return I got my shot

לשבת ולחכות למשהו… הדריכות הזו… המוּכנוּת…

נדמה לי שראיתי פעם, על מסך זה או אחר, מישהו מתחפר לקראת ההמתנה. מסווה את עצמו, משתלב בסביבה. מחכה עד לבוא המטרה.

קראתי בספרים על התאמת הנשימה. על המוּדעות לכך ש-כל גוף הוא מסה של פעימות – דם בעורקים נדחף ונשאב על ידי משאבה, רועד ורוטט ללא הפסקה. על נשימה עמוקה והרגעה. על הרגע בין פעימת לב אחת לשנייה, בין נשימה לנשימה.

המארב תמיד נראה לי מאד לא נוח. לשכב כך, שעות על שעות, באותה תנוחה. ללא כל תזוזה. לשמור על העירנות המתאימה.

להפתעתי דווקא נוח לי מאד להמתין לקריאה, רק חוסר הסבלנות מציק. נו, יאללה כבר… וכמו בדווקא – המטרה מסרבת להופיע. משחקת מחבואים. והשורה "מי ינצח פה, מי ייצא מובס" מסתובבת במוחי.

ואם לענות לשאלה נראה לי ששנינו ניצחנו: הקטנצ'יק אף לא נבהל ובתמורה זכיתי לתמונה
