Hello!  Kimberly Wiener here, are we ready for SPRING?

This FUN and fanciful Hero Arts Hello Flowers set will make you smile with the anticipation of Spring!  I know when most of us think of sponging, we think of distress inks and stenciling, at least I do.  You can use ANY inks for sponging and not only for stenciling.  Sponging layers of colors of ink over a white embossed image really makes for an amazing effect!  I am in ABSOLUTE Love with the Hero Arts Shadow inks!  Such great smooth coverage that I had to collect them all.  So great that A2Z Scrapbooking carries the Mid Tone Inks, Yay!

Layered Sponging with Embossing!

For this card I started with embossing several of the large open blooms in white onto white cardstock.  Starting with Lemon Yellow, then Soft Apricot, then Bubble Gum, I softly sponged lightest colors to darkest. starting at the center where the white of the petals begin.  To blend the edges of the colors where they overlapped,I use Soft Apricot and sponged lightly over the entire bloom, sponging in a circle motion concentrating at the overlapping areas.

Nearest to the petals center I used V20 Wisteria copic and colored a small circle border all around the outer circle nearest to the petals inner edges. To make the center extra bright and vibrant, I sponged with harder pressure ultra pink in a circle at the very center of each bloom and fussy cut them all out.  Masking about 2 inches from the edge of the cardstock I sponged Tide Pool making a border.

Using the Tide Pool ink, I selected the smaller flower and stamped tone on tone on the masked border, keeping the area masked so the images remain only on the blue sponged area.  I cut and adhered a strip of black cardstock to edge the border toward the center of the card, arranged and adhered the fussy cut sponged flowers leaving an open area for the sentiment. and stamped the sentiment in Night black ink.

Lastly, I used a super fine line black sharpie pen to color in the very center of the flowers, leaving the embossed areas untouched as best as I could.
