Without a doubt, Charles Tyrwhitt’s country check shirts are one of the few menswear items I wait with anticipation for all year. I chose my favourite (spelled as if I were a true English bloke) shirt from their collection this year along with one of their classic English country ties and paired with some other threads to create a classic country look.

Charles Tyrwhitt Country Check Shirt & Pheasant Tie
Price: $69 & $49 (respectively)
If you love that classic English country look as much as I (and more importantly, my wife) do you after reading the rest of this post you’ll want to stroll on over to their site and take a look at their other country checks and ties.
Clarks Brown Suede Desert Boots
Price: $120
An unchanged classic for over 60 years, any closet missing a pair of Clarks desert boots is a sad closet indeed. I believe in buying good clothes that will stay in style for years to come. Grab a pair of these and your feet will never be out of style.
Billy Reid Sport Jacket
Price: $650
Billy Reid was awarded the Best New Designer in America Award in 2010, and for good reason. The pattern may be subtle but this herringbone jacket screams style. What I love most about this jacket is the patch pockets. Patch pockets give any jacket an air of casualness and are a great way to dress down while still looking great.
Brooks Brothers Pocket Square
Price: $40
This dark red square sets off the ensemble with an extra touch of class. Because the jacket, shirt and tie all have patterns I went with a solid color for the pocket square. I never like making an outfit too busy.
Check out my other pocket square picks for the winter season here.
Lee Slim Rider for J. Crew Jeans
Price: $198
What better for an updated English country look than a pair of jeans originally made for cowboys. Jeans that have a slimmer profile look much better with a shirt and tie than baggy jeans. I repeat, never wear baggy jeans with a shirt and tie.
Stay true to yourself. Be kind to others. Define your own style.
