June 12 is Philippine Independence Day as declared by Gen. E milio Aguinaldo in Cavite on 12th June 1898.
But June 12 was not the original Freedom Day. From 1946 to 1964, Philippine Independence Day was celebrated on July 4th which signified 4th July 1946, when the United States granted Philippine liberty.
It was on 4th August 1964, when then President Diosdado Macapagal signed R.A. 4166 designating 12th of June as Philippine Independence Day.
So, today we commemorate our 116th Anniversary of Liberation.
Job fairs and medical missions are conducted to alleviate/ liberate us from unemployment and sickness.
